Living right next to the meadow and lake here in the sierras, we see them all the time and have a healthy dose of respect for what they can do ...alone or in a pack. They are very smart and agile creatures.
But this poor girl was sooooooo out of her element, My heart goes out to her.

I've heard them in a park north of Seattle at night in the winter. They like to eat squirrels.
