(6,891 posts)the technology to drastically reduce our dependence on the burning of fossil fuels. The effort here is being thwarted by our conservative political duopoly that primarily represents the interests of our financial plutocracy. In some countries the pace of transition from fossil to renewable energy sources is accelerating. What those countries have in common are powerful socialist parties working within parliamentary systems. The problem isn't with liberalism. The problems is with the American version of it, its subservient relationship to conservatism and the lack of a credible socialist party. Since none of that is going to change so long as the wealth and political power of the country are controlled by financial parasites, the only short term solution is to reduce the volume of blood they suck.
