I still don't see typing on an iPad or other tablet as an acceptable replacement for a keyboard.

Then you have to lug all that stuff to the coffee shop. A netbook is only one device.

Maybe a mini-keyboard would be better but that's still two devices to lug around instead of one.

The Zaggfolio for iPad would also allow you to carry it in a single piece

Alot of ultraboos and alot of the new Macbooks have done away with opticals.
