The persistence of NRA Talking Points [View all]

One of the biggest reasons I see for the vitriol directed at people charged with defending the indefensible (guns) on DU is the reliance on NRA Talking Points.

These are the same easily-rebutted and child-like Talking Points that were probably first debunked in the early part of the 12th century. Additionally, some pro-gun posters seem to have a "pet" Talking Point that they are especially good at copying n' pasting.

When a piece of NRA Fantasyland (AKA Talking Point) gets shot down on one thread, you might think that's that. But then a religious miracle happens - the exact same bit of fantasy gets resurrected on another thread. This happens over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

It's not discussion. It's a tiring and maddening Whack-A-Mole game. That is why so many Liberals on DU consider the gungeon a cesspool, and why when that cesspool overflows into GD it stinks the whole place up.
