Boehner stuck on 'stupid'? Hardly. [View all]

Think about it. Boehner is stuck with a lot of extremists in his party, who will NEVER vote for ANY tax increase, no matter what. That pretty much takes negotiating out of the mix. Anyone see that moron DumbassStack this morning from Kentucky? That's what Boehner has to deal with, so Boehner needs a lot of Democrats to get anything revenue related passed. So what does he do? He comes up with an ill advised, horrible bill and tries to pass it, probably knowing full well that even with its generosity for the well off, it would still fail because there were tax increases in it. What he's done is washed his hands of it. 'I tried' he said.

"As you all know the Senate bill had a blue slip problem and it continues to sit in the United States Senate. So we don’t have the Senate bill. We do have a House bill that sits in the Senate that extended tax rates for all Americans, and we’ve been waiting since August the first for the Senate to act. If the Senate wants to act on that bill, we’ll certainly take a look at it," Boehner said.

The Senate CAN'T originate bills raising revenue. If it does, it gets 'blue slipped', or shelved. What Boehner said is that the Senate can work of the August bill, since it originated in the House, and do whatever they want to it before sending it back to the House. THAT is not 'stupid'. THAT is genius. The Dems get to write their own bill, make it attractive enough to get just enough (sane) Republicans to vote for it, and hand it back to Boehner.

Come to think of it, Boehner's actions giving Reid the go-ahead to write the bill - which sounds like its been written already - all seems like a coordinated strategy between Boehner and Obama to bypass the Rightwing extremists in the House. I, for one, will refrain from passing judgement on anything anymore until I see a result.
