but at a reduced rate, say 3% for the worker and 3% for the employer.

The AFA puts a Medicare tax on capital gains. I believe that it is about 3.5%.

Why not do that for SS?

Or how about a 2-3% SS tax on estates over $2 mil or so.

I'd really like you to have SS to fall back on when you're old. I don't think that it is fair for people within hailing distance of retirement like me (57) to take your money if a solid plan isn't in place for you to get something, too.
