News station reports on trial using puppet reenactment [View all]

When Channel 19 in Akron, Ohio was prohibited from bringing its cameras into the corruption trial of former county commissioner Jimmy Dimora, the outcome was a stroke of pure media genius.

The station took transcripts of the trial and reenacted them using muppet-like puppets.

Dimora is accused of using his political influence in exchange for bribes. In the video segment, a witness describes setting Dimora up with a prostitute named Suzanne.

“I think that all court proceedings should be reported in this way,” the Lowering the Bar blog suggests, “but would settle for either puppet coverage of arguments in the U.S. Supreme Court or a full reenactment of the Rod Blagojevich trial.”
