Salon has an excellent article listing the most obvious waste by the military.
*The Pentagon runs 234 golf courses - keeping the cost undisclosed. More are not even on the list.
* 963 generals and admirals - 2/3 more than needed. And they have expensive perks, along with a strong sense of entitlement regarding those perks. About 70% of retired 3 and 4 star generals move through the pipeline to defense industry giants like Lockheed Martin.
*According to a Washington Post investigation, each top commander has his own C-40 jet, complete with beds on board. Chefs,drivers, security guards, secretaries and people to shine their shoes and iron their uniforms.
