but I'm just guessing (though 12 K does = 50% purity)
BTW - the article says 50 carat. "Carat" is a measurement of gemstone weight, while "karat" is the measure of gold purity. That's pretty common stuff and a decent editor should have caught it, so I'm beginning to wonder about the accuracy of any of the content.
