Florida governor DeSantis quietly signed into law a law that bans local county and city governments from passing any ordinance for worker heat protections. The bill sponsor stating:

“The intent of the bill is to ensure that employers have the ability to govern themselves and make sure they create the best working environment for their employees,” said bill sponsor Sen. Jay Trumbell (R-Panama City).

There is no other kinder, friendlier interpretation makes this make sense. This makes it crystal clear to everyone: cruelty is actually the objective.
