Stone's role was, at least IMO, transformative and compelling.
Gladstone's role was marvelous. But to me, it didn't deman the same level of acting skill Stone displayed.
And your post kinda makes the point. You really (and so do I TBH) love her part because of the honesty of the portrayal. But that doesn't mean she gave the best performance, and at least IMHO, she didn't.

I have seen some assessments that equate her portrayal with that of a disabled person.

I didn't see Emma Stone's movie, but I have to admit being disappointed that Gladstone lost..

It was just far too long for that kind of story - 3 hours and 26 minutes - that's like "Ben-Hur" length for a far less

The point is that it's not much to worry about. The decisions were almost entirely insignifant to what's happening

I disagree, Lily was very good but her roll didn't require as much as Emma Stone's roll.
