12. I taught my kids that every action is a choice.

Not getting up in the morning is a choice. Not speaking up against bullying is a choice.

Avoidance is a choice. Life is full of choices, many of them difficult. We're urged to do the right thing, because turning our heads and pretending we don't see is a choice.

A lot of people who consider themselves to be good, decent, even compassionate people are making lousy choices right now. It's not courageous to holler at Jewish restaurant owners or vandalize libraries. It's not courageous to cancel inclusivity because "somebody might get upset." It's a choice to promote antisemitism.
