10. That was my first election.

The loss was devastating.
I still think we lost because our party blew it with Vietnam. Despite all of Johnson's great, liberal actions his failure to pull the plug on that useless war doomed any Democratic candidate. Then, Nixon's and Kissinger's ratfuckery and culture wars crushed the real peace candidate. Then they dangled that carrot on a stick in front of the voters all the way through the next election..
Of course, those two war criminals convinced me never to vote for a republican!
