This may not be a huge deal in the scheme of things (single oil and gas well in an Ohio national Forest), but it is interesting to note that during a comment period - when we the people could voice our concerns, not one comment was made.

Gala Goldsmith, Athens District Ranger of the Wayne National Forest, has decided to approve the Surface Use Plan of Operation (SUPO), including the removal and sale of timber from the site, related to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Lease 46371 (Hite 2) for Kenoil, Inc. of Wooster, Ohio, to develop one oil and gas well on National Forest land in Falls-Gore Township, Hocking County, Ohio. The location of the well is in S 1?2 NW of Section 35, T14N, R16W on National Forest System (NFS) land. The well is not a horizontal well and does not involve high volume hydraulic fracturing procedures related to deeper Ohio shale formations. This well proposal will be similar to oil and gas wells in the immediate vicinity of this project commonly called shallow vertical wells.
