In reply to the discussion: Grandparents Put Baby in Oven to Teach Dad a Lesson (no babies were harmed) [View all]frogmarch
(12,153 posts)156. I said I understand that. I also
said it depicts a threat, whether or not the threat was real or just a sick joke.
I don't believe the baby was actually in physical danger when his grandparents put him in the oven. That isn't the point. The point is that they thought it would be funny to put the baby in the oven as if they were going to roast him. Real-life atrocities are committed against children all the time. Anyone who would even pretend to roast a baby has to be sick in the head.
People have a right to think that putting the baby into the oven was a funny thing to do, but if the child were mine, he wouldn't be seeing these grandparents of his for a very long time.

I remember a case where a woman stuck her child in microwave and actually microwaved the baby.

Well, thank God they aren't Nazis! That really isn't the entire point, though, "not meaning harm."

The difference is he turned the dryer on, and the point was to actually cause them pain and distress

You're accusing the father of putting child porn on the reddit 'funny' pages?

The PROP of an open oven with a baby or toddler inside was cited in both child porn arrest articles.

both sets of kids grandparents were sensitive enough to understand our trepidation as new parents.

This is quite possibly the stupidest post ever on DU. Yeah, Liberals have an " inability to laugh."
