Scholars have studied this book and many discount it. Much of the imagery in the book is actually about "then" current events, i.e. the Roman Empire and its leaders. Much of the story about Armageddon is allegory, etc.

Further to that there will be no "Rapture". Sorry Left Behind Series writers (although they made a boatload of money off of fantasy).
