1. This is often sung in England and Canada on Remembrance Day

From the orchestral piece Enigma Variations by Sir Edward Elgar; the Nimrod variation is often sung as Requiem aeternam, lux aeterna (Eternal rest; eternal light).

The words are taken from the Requiem Mass: Lux æterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in æternum, quia pius es. Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis...... English translation: May everlasting light shine upon them, O Lord, with your Saints forever, for you are merciful. Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and may everlasting light shine upon them.......

Ihad the minister play a recording of this at my father's funeral in 2000. He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps. So I snuck some good music in Latin into a small-town Methodist Church!!
