(51,192 posts)the PA "I'm the salt of the earth and I love to stick it to the man and that guy in his NJ mansion is not one of us" voter. This is smart, because PA has a lot of them in the middle of the political spectrum.
But one of our complaints about running campaigns that appeal to the necessary mathematical middle is that we fear it makes us move right on policy. In the past, we have tried to appeal to that middle voter by tempering the liberalism of our policies.
THIS campaign is a guy with very progressive policies appealing to that mathematical middle precisely BECAUSE he isn't talking policy.
His platform is very liberal, but his trolling captures the purple PA voter who is interested in emotion rather than policy.
He gets the necessary middle votes while sacrificing nothing in terms of progressive policies.
