People are few and spread out. Try finding someone with a college education to talk to.
You want *paved* roads? Wash your car and it's a duststorm after 1/8 miles (to your mailbox)
Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Wallgreens, and Sprouts are only FIFTY miles away.
Only one hospital in town. I don't read the local paper, so as not to worry about the scandals there.
Only a few acres of weeds ( I call it "lawn" ) to whack to make the fire inspectors happy.
Been spraying poison oak plants for 6 years. Eventually, I'll get almost all of them.
No need to visit the zoo, the zoo visits YOU (You can't grow anything without a 7 foot fence with fence charger.)

Entirely two lane roads, frequented by drunks and people getting strokes.
If you thought that electricity and gas were expensive, at least they're "regulated". Propane is not.
Fire evacuation kit is mandatory to have ready.
Local preppers were just doing their Sunday morning rifle range (happens on days ending in "y" )
Water, septic and backup power (trees constantly fall on power lines) are on your nickel. Nobody is on call to keep them going.
Cell service is outrageously bad. I had to sign up for the high speed internet option. DSL. --- D. S. frickin L.

That said, the view is almost 360. It's like Jackson Hole for a penny on the dollar,
And nobody visits.
Maybe sideshows and takeovers are more exciting than birds and trees? I just don't know.
And of course, there are morons everywhere, even where you might not expect.
