So here we are with a sizable portion of our population defending and applauding a violent attack over a joke. Possibly a joke in bad taste, possibly even a mean-spirited jab with a history behind it, but still a joke. Many people saying "I would have done the same thing. Will thought he and his wife were disrespected and it made Jada sad." Really? Thinking you were disrespected makes violence ok? The nazis in Charlottesville were "sure" they were being replaced and their lives would be forever changed. The J6 seditionists were "sure" their election and their country as they knew it were stolen from them. Mistaken and misguided but those were their thoughts. These ideas to them are certainly much more important than a "disrespectful" joke at an awards show. The nazis and the seditionists chose violence to express themselves. They were wrong. Violence in response to a joke is ridiculous. It is wrong. Period.
