(10,740 posts)I don't need to be told not to vote for republicons. No matter how it's phrased. We all know to vote blue.
But that phrase is as grating and misleading as "defund the police". It implies that there will be lousy candidates and that we should just look the other way no matter how they might screw up. That attitude and demand creates "why bother" type voter apathy. We might have to put up with a Manchin kind of candidate because of the makeup of a state or district, but we should never settle for that for any other reason. Most places in the country, people who want a conservative candidate won't be voting for the Democrat anyway so we don't need to cater to their whims.
Nor should we ever have to keep silent when we disagree with a politician. Particularly one for whom we are demanded to vote, and did.
And the thing still not being acknowledged is the importance of the For the People Act. Without it, this is all moot as republicons will take control and undo everything we want.
