Even before Covid, if you ever read a lot of articles on scientific subjects, you'd notice the journalists really didn't understand what they were talking about. Now, we get these breathless headlines with studies and statistics that aren't presented in a clear, concise way within the appropriate context. If you consume a lot of media, even social media, you can find yourself receiving a lot of contradictory information. "What, exactly, should I be worried about here?"
I think the CDC absolutely made a political calculation. That is not what the CDC should be doing. When you don't fully have a grasp on something, you don't say anything. But with a pandemic and our 24/7 news cycles, these scientists kept feeling like they had to be out there saying something. Anything, really.
This was not super helpful - at all.
The WHO has been an absolute, politically-motivated clown show. Taiwan was begging them to take note of what was happening towards the beginning of the pandemic, and they flatly ignored them because, you know, China. That is not how science works.
People should use common sense. And I don't get the problem with masks. They're not that bad. Are people wearing some kind of uncomfortable monstrosities made of hard plastic? Get better masks, then. Eesh. I put one on any time I'm indoors in public for any reason. As soon as I finish this post, I'm heading out to gym, where I will do 45 minutes of cardio . . . with my mask on.

I use those. Crazy comfortable, adjustable, washable.
Not that difficult. I don't understand the resistance.
