(31,388 posts)My arm didn't start to get sore until the afternoon. Had a nice one hour nap and then set myself up on the couch with layers and a blanket over my legs (to combat chills) and watched a couple of shows I'd recorded. Had chicken soup and a sandwich for lunch. Water and ginger ale while watching shows, and going to make some more soup shortly. Not really hungry. Don't feel feverish, but do have more body aches than with the first shot.
The strangest thing happened this morning when I woke up. My knee replacement knee had stiffened up and I could barely walk. This was several hours BEFORE the shot. Normally I would take Tylenol arthritis for joint pain, but I didn't because I've read it's not good to take it prior to the shot. Just put ice on/off it until time to leave for shot. I discussed whether to take it after the shot with the nurse and she said unless I have side effect symptoms, don't. So, I've been rotating ice packs on my knee to settle the inflammation down on it.
I wonder whether the knee inflammation is a long term side effect from the first shot? While I've had occasional tightness in that knee since the surgery almost four years ago, I've never had it stiffen up so suddenly and painfully on me. I couldn't even walk on it when I got out of bed. Had to limp down to the front door at the other end of the house to get my cane out of the umbrella stand!
Time for some soup and another ice pack on the knee, which is much better than it was this morning.
