I think basically what happened was that watching Mitt pull a completely new tax plan out of his ass in the first two minutes rattled Obama for a while--because of course he's been preparing to debate Mitt on the plan he was actually campaigning on, instead of whatever shit he made up in that opening segment. If a guy is prepared to just change his positions at will, how are you supposed to pin him down?

Mitt did himself some damage behaviorally speaking, and Obama recovered a bit toward the end; but at the moment this is not a victory for us. Which sucks.

However, this does not significantly alter my conviction that this jackass will lose the election. Because Mitt seems to be very good at pushing Jim Lehrer around and lying, but there isn't too much else he and his team are good at.

Ah well. It is over. Good night, everybody. It's always a pleasure, win or lose.
