According to the Dallas Morning News, he was arrested with 20 homemade explosive devices. He did 41 months federal time for possession of a firearm by a felon, and how he got that was by patrolling the TX-MX border as part of groups of like-minded indivicuals, and kidnapped anyone they thought had crossed the border. BATF raided his hotel room and discovered a "cache" of ammonium nitrate.

He also joined the Army but was discharged after 59 days - which means he didn't even make it through basic training.

What's worse is he's got a very long rap sheet.
