5. My wife and I used to live in neighborhoods like that.

It was all we could afford. My wife worked days, I worked nights.

Whenever I heard gunshots, or any kind of disturbance really, I used to take our kids to the back bedroom and we'd play on the floor.

Our next door neighbor was an alcoholic who'd never recovered from the murder of his son in a drug deal gone bad. His other son was still selling drugs.

I hate U.S.A. gun culture. I've seen too many horrible things. Gun fetishes are disgusting.

Even in "nice" neighborhoods guns bring horrors -- from suicides, murder-suicides, people shooting friends and family they mistake for intruders, and cops shooting people because so many cops don't have the temperament or training to use firearms wisely.
