(1,343 posts)The Book of Revelation was apparently a "nightmare" or maybe simply an hallucination of John. And as for biblical prophecies -- well, it's pretty easy to to claim that those prophecies came true, especially when the narrative after the fact oh so handily explains what actually happened.
Those who take the Christian Bible (New Testament) literally have a thing or two to learn about the Old Testament. Most Jewish scholars don't believe Moses parted the Red Sea, or that Jonah was swallowed by a whale, or that Daniel survived the lion's den. Those and other such stories are simply allegories, which encourage the flock to believe in God.
And as for Nostradamus -- well, his verses were so vague that many, many world events could easily be attributed to his predictions.
Do you remember that ghastly Hal Lindsay who wrote "The Late, great Planet Earth"? I think he or maybe someone else wrote those "Left behind" books too. There are far too many gullible people who believe that crap, and religious shysters (in TV, in print and in politics) push it and push it.
Some of you claim you're non-religious (I myself became a non-theist when my common sense stepped in many years ago), and yet you seem to be worried about an anti-Christ. Trump is evil incarnate (no conscience, no morals, his only "god" is greed) and yes, there ARE people like that in this world, and there always will be. He was born with a silver spoon, and turned it into gold, but he hasn't been unremittingly lucky during his life, and his time to pay the piper WILL come. We can only hope that happens before he destroys the US, and takes other countries down with him
