(1,349 posts)millenials makes millenials look bad.
Did I mention millenials? I am one, and it's condescending and dangerous to play right into the negative things people say about us. The world does not revolve around us, and no matter how spry we're all feeling, we're not the "young electorate".
The high school and college kids were LIED TO, were being shat upon by people taking advantage of their naivete and their failure to understand history or basic functions of government.
God forbid people call out politicians for ignoring needs and concerns of actual millenials and catering the stupidity of young people who have made it clear that they were not very smart. They actually believed that "free college" meant that they wouldn't have to repay their loans, and that the January 2017 semester would be free.
Upper half of millenials were not stupid, we knew that our little brothers and sisters were being lied to, and that they didn't understand the difference between policy, plans and slogans. That simply attending a rally wasn't the same thing as getting involved, holding politicians accountable, VOTING, or understanding how congress works and why simply screaming at women leaders and throwing tantrums wasn't in anyway going to change anything.
We're not young, we're not stupid, and we understand why listening to bots online and on forums and having a snit whenever we think the "olds" are talking down to us, usually in response to dumb shit some of us say in ignorance.
Please stop with the self appointed spokesposter for our age group, our elder siblings are not amused, nor is our age cohort and we need to deal with our younger sibs, because some of them are still spouting the propaganda they were fed a couple of years ago. Quite a lot have woken up and are not buying the BS anymore.
Stop with the self centered condescension and the whining, we've got work to do, and yelling at people who we imagine are attacking us is just a waste of time.
We're on the ticket all over the country and we're supporting great candidates, who understand that we're not a monolith, perhaps it's time that understanding expands to those who imagine themselves appointed spokespeople for us as well.
