It undercuts even the most flimsy pretense Trump is using for his racist orders. This is pure inhumane punishment of those who dare trod on American soil to protect their children's lives from horrors. "Zero tolerance" can be twisted to result in parents being separated from children when prosecuted due to limits on children being housed in adult detention centers, all of which is legally avoidable in the first place of course. But even using Trump's transparently anti refugee racist logic - the children of a family detained after crossing a border CAN be kept together, that portion of the family can be kept intact. Young siblings usually cling to each other when fearful - they give comfort to each other, they help each other retain a shred of hope that they still are part of an actual family.

I would like someone in the national media to point this out.
