(35,390 posts)Then again, haven't much been in another family's house for years so that's a meaningless subject-line answer. Did visit with a fellow teacher who's part Lebanese, but she's as Euro-American white as any German would be.
Used to visit with my Latino neighbors before they moved. That was 5-6 years ago, but for all the "of color" rhetoric I considered them white. (One very fair skinned blue-eyed blonde student said she was a "student of color" while her slightly-darker skinned brown-haired brown-eyed teacher wasn't. Argentinian.) The AfAm neighbors, to the extent they have parties, host them in their driveways and garages.
I've been invited to a number of parties hosted by administrators and such. Come to think of it, I think they were all hosted by EurAms. The AfAm administrators where I work don't host parties for staff of non-color, but I have heard them talking about parties at which they invited each other.
