Republican official appears to have moved $1.3m from nonprofit to own law firm

Source: The Guardian

San Francisco lawyer Harmeet Dhillon is a fixture on Fox News who has garnered support from the likes of Matt Gaetz, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham; she also helms a nonprofit that appears to have directed more than $1m into her law firm, Dhillon Law Group.

...

Last November, Dhillon was able to mount a serious challenge to Ronna McDaniel for chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC). Archived snapshots of her campaign’s official website touted endorsements from elected officials such as Gaetz and conservative media figures such as Carlson, Ingraham and Jack Posobiec.
Fox News said Carlson was in breach of contract and that it ‘reserves all rights and remedies which are available to it’.

The Guardian has found that at least $1.32m has been transferred from the CAL to her law firm, Dhillon Law Group, in a move one charity expert described as “problematic”. Additionally, state and federal filings show Dhillon takes a $120,000 salary from CAL for a two-hour work week.

Meanwhile, the nonprofit has entered into a close relationship with a well-heeled rightwing foundation whose financial generosity has been matched by a seat on the nonprofit’s board.

Yet another important figure in the Republican Party gets caught dipping their fingers into the till.

I guess Jack Smith likes Trump's lawyers. He invited them back again to see him!

Guys, we had such a nice discussion a couple of days ago. How about stopping by next Tuesday? Bring your white-haired friend with you. He's more than welcome. I insist and so does the judge.

Have you heard the story of the American Christian Evangelist who

died and when he got to heaven, he was personally met by St Peter? Moreover, there were legions of angels singing and playing harps. He was amazed at the reception. St. Peter personally showed him to his place in heaven which was a lavish mansion. It was decorated with bunting and a large sign welcoming him to heaven. He turned to St. Peter and said he anticipated what heaven would be like but this far exceeded his wildest dreams. He asked if everyone was treated so royally and St Peter replied "No. This only happens for really special people. I've been here for 2000 years and you are the first Christian Evangelist or Baptist in all that time to make it up here."

God sure knows how to treat Florida

Hurricanes, floods, giant blobs of seaweed, mice, the Mar-a-Lago Monster, Der Fuhrer, minions in the legislature that would probably vote to buy panzers and u-boats if the Fuhrer asked, and now this:

Flesh-eating bacteria.

My oh my! All that and insufferable heat, too.

Is it Dee Santis or Duh Santis? Neither. It is Der Fuhrer de Florida

He's a combination of Hitler (Germany) and Franco (Spain). Hitler for what he is. Franco for what he has taken over as his domain while he seeks world domination.

We don't want reading to interfere with target practice!

I am amazed at this article's statement that Tennessee thinks that 60% 3rd grade failure rate on a standardized reading test is an improvement over last year's 65%. Tennessee must be proud of itself for doing so good.

Students are not reason why third-grader TCAP reading scores are low | OPINION
[link:https://clarksvillenow.com/local/students-are-not-reason-why-third-grader-tcap-reading-scores-are-low-opinion/|]

A third-grader gets all A’s on their report card but fails the TCAP test. There are three factors here: the teacher, the student and the TCAP test. The only blameless one here is the student.

The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) is proud to say scores have gone up since last year. This year, ONLY 60% “fell below the threshold” (failed) the English portion of the TCAP. Last year, it was 65%. If the rate of “improvement” stays on track, a kid starting first grade this year will graduate from high school before the TDOE totally fixes the problem.

US senator denounced as ‘profoundly ignorant man’ over remarks on Mexico

John Kennedy’s comments about Mexicans ‘eating cat food’ came as he urged the US military to enter country to ‘stop the cartels’

Mexicans “would be eating cat food out of a can and living in a tent behind an Outback” Steakhouse restaurant if it were not for their nation’s proximity to the US, and their country should be invaded because of the presence of drug cartels there, the US senator John Neely Kennedy said.

The Louisiana Republican’s racist remarks drew a strong condemnation from Mexico’s foreign affairs secretary, Marcelo Ebrard, who called Kennedy “a profoundly ignorant man”. Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, meanwhile, urged the 37 million Americans of Mexican descent – along with other Latinos in the US – “not to vote for people with this very arrogant, very offensive and very foolish mentality” in the future.

I agree with Mr. Kennedy. Let him lead his fellow repug Senators and traitor congressthings in the attack. Then Biden can seal off the border to keep them from coming back (while continuing to allowing immigrants).

Meanwhile, we pay Zelenskiy to loan Mexico some battle hardened troops by giving him bigger missiles in return with the instructions to take no prisoners among the invaders.

Why do we need Medicare at all?

These two say it all.

A bill for my wife and what was paid.

Sleazy Private Hospital Corp (which was purchased from a non-profit) probably bills this amount to those without insurance driving them into bankruptcy or making them decline the necessary test.

$14K+ billed. Total Paid by Medicare $1300. We would owe $300+ but that was paid by a Medigap policy.

This is why we need Medicare For All!

What if everyone who didn't have Medicare could even avoid the $14K bill and only get a bill for the total paid by Medicare and paid by patient? Not everyone could afford even that much but it's a lot better than $14K!

Hunter Biden and 'dirty' New York: Fox News back to basics after lawsuit

Source: The Guardian

With Fox News humbled into a $787.5m settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over election lies this week, it might be expected that the conservative TV channel’s outspoken hosts would tone down the misinformation a bit, soften their rhetoric – basically, just chill out.

None of that has happened.

Instead Fox News has continued just where it left off, serving viewers a largely imagined, and utterly terrifying, version of the US: one where trans people are on the warpath, where people in New York City are never more than 6ft from either a rat or being murdered, and where the government is attempting to “send away” Fox News viewers to an undefined but ominous sounding “camp”.

They continue their policy of promoting hate.

Fox News executives and talking heads should be sent to a pre-school camp so they can start over again as real human beings.
