Otto_Harper's JournalWhite Room (Cream) - played on a renaissance lute
I just love what this guy can do with lutes and guitars. Here's his interpretation of The White Roomon a renaissance lute.
Yesterday, 9,176 Texans were attacked and 225 were killed by....
What's in a word. Of course, the last word of that intro sentence is Covid. But, what if every time we should use Covid, we substitute the phrase "Foreign Terrorists" instead.
Would it get the attention of the RW true believers if we reported that yesterday 109,980 Americans were attacked by terrorists and 1,982 were killed. And this goes on every day of the week. Would you suppose they would get all gung-ho and drive around in flag draped pickup trucks brandishing their personally customized AR-15s, just looking to fulfill their John Wayne fantasy of defending 'Murica?
Perhaps, if we could get them to understand that they, themselves are the terrorists due to their anti-vax, anti-mask and anti-science campaigns, we could get them to change their behaviors and rejoin the country they claim to care about.
Fresh Air - Quicksilver Messenger Service (another one I spent 1971 and beyond chain listening )
I was never sure whether it was this piece or the refreshments, but I could get lost in it for hours.
Back in 1971 I would chain listen to this track on headphones
Its "I'd Love to Change The World" by Ten Years After
Even after 50 years, I think its use of the sound field that was available back then was marvelous. For those who were not yet rock fans 50 years ago, just keep in mind that some of the stuff you hear going on in this piece, including the musicianship, was new and fresh.
The Sloop John A (Rick Fitzgerald) - Tongue in cheek parody of the Beach Boys song
Yes, there is a different sloop, and different lyrics.
With Covid deaths exceeding births in some states
We need a new kind of party for folks to go out and attend.
Instead of a "Gender Reveal" party, perhaps we could have a "Vax Reveal" party. In this one, if the guest of honor is vaxxed, the cannon could shoot out silver glitter. And, in the case of the unvaxxed, the cannon could shoot out their cremains.
Just a thought.
Runaway (Del Shannon) as played on a Renaissance lute
Who woulda thunk you could play Doo-Wop era music on a 16th century instrument?
(This is one of my favorite all time pieces, and I love 16th century music, so what could go wrong? Glad I found the video)
Triage at a Gas Station
Here is a commentary by Beau that I think is of some value for all of us to keep in mind, when such discussions come up.
