At least three people were shot when gunmen opened fired during a service at a Salvation Army community center in Blue Island, Illinois, Friday afternoon, a suburb of Chicago.

Blue Island police said a repass, or repast, service was under way Friday afternoon at the Salvation Army Cross Generations Worship & Community Center, at 2900 W. 127th St. The service was Princess Jamya Bell, 19, who was shot and killed as an unintended target on June 3.

The worship and community center was filled with Bell's friends, family, and loved ones at the time.

Michigan GOP lawmaker facing possible sexual assault, assault, felony weapons charges

Source: USA Today VIA AOL

LANSING — Lansing police requested three felony charges against a Republican state lawmaker after he was arrested following a disturbance early Thursday morning, records show.

Records the Free Press obtained Friday through the online Michigan State Police criminal background service, the Internet Criminal History Access Tool, show police requested felony charges of sexual assault, assault, and a weapons-related offense against state Rep. Neil Friske, R-Charlevoix.

Friske, 62, who is being held at the Lansing police lockup, has not been arraigned and it is not clear those are the charges he will ultimately face. An arraignment is expected Friday or Saturday, though it is possible Friske could be released ahead of his arraignment if prosecutors require more time to make charging decisions. An attorney for Friske could not be reached.

Friske was arrested around 2:45 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of Windbreak Lane in Lansing, police spokeswoman Jordan Gulkis confirmed to the Free Press. Gulkis said officers were dispatched initially to the nearby 2100 block of Forest Road to respond to reports of a male with a gun, "as well as possible shots that were fired," she said in an email.

Donald Trump joins TikTok, rapidly wins over a million followers

Source: Reuters via AOL

Within hours of joining TikTok, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had attracted over 1.3 million followers on the short video social media platform that he tried to ban as president on national security grounds.

The decision to join the platform on Saturday could help the former president reach younger voters in his third bid for the White House. He is in a close race with Democratic incumbent Joe Biden ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election.

Biden's election campaign is already on TikTok, although Biden has signed a bill that would ban the app, which is used by 170 million Americans, if its Chinese owner ByteDance fails to divest it.

Trump posted a launch video on his account, which has the address @realdonaldtrump, on Saturday night. The video showed Trump greeting fans at an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight in Newark, New Jersey.

Not a blip on the national radar. Not on any of my news feeds here in the US.

But it's all over my wife's Chinese news feed.

Again. . .so common it isn't even newsworthy nationwide anymore.

This is normal now, and news doesn't report on normal.

Donald Trump reacts to guilty verdict

Donald Trump quickly reacted to the jury's decision finding him guilty on all 34 criminal counts.

“This is just a disgrace,” Trump told reporters in the hallway outside the courtroom. “We didn’t do anything wrong. I’m an innocent man.”

Trump ignored shouted questions about whether he would drop out of the presidential campaign.

“This is far from over,” Trump said. “We’ll keep fighting. We’ll fight to the end and we’ll win.”

'Shameful': Republicans quickly come to Trump's defense after his conviction

Source: ABC News Via AOL

It didn’t take long after a jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial for Republicans to quickly jump to their presumptive presidential nominee’s defense.

Speaker Mike Johnson, second in line to the presidency and the top Republican on Capitol Hill, called it a “shameful day in American history.”

“This was a purely political exercise, not a legal one,” Johnson claimed.

The House leader, who also traveled to Manhattan to show his support for Trump at the courthouse earlier this month, went on to try to paint the proceeding as biased -- parroting unfounded claims from the former president himself that the justice system has been politically weaponized against him.
