As the coronavirus spreads in Japan, the chief executive of the Tokyo Games said Friday he can’t guarantee the postponed Olympics will be staged next year — even with the long delay.

This was reflected in state media, as the city which once characterized China's failures to contain the coronavirus now symbolized the country's recovery, in stark contrast to the chaos that is rapidly unfolding in much of the rest of the world.
But under that confident facade, there were signs of a concern felt across Asia: that any recovery from the virus may be fleeting, and a new wave of infections -- and the lockdowns, death and misery that follow in their wake -- may be just over the horizon.

Images have emerged of coffins being buried in a mass grave in New York City, as the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak continues to rise.
Workers in hazmat outfits were seen using a ladder to descend into a huge pit where the coffins were stacked.
The location is Hart Island, used for New Yorkers with no next of kin or who could not afford a funeral.
The state's confirmed caseload of Covid-19 jumped by 10,000 on Thursday to 159,937, of whom 7,000 have died.

The Food and Drug Administration, along with the Federal Trade Commission has sent a notice to Alex Jones' Infowars website to stop selling products it claims can help "mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19."
Officials not only warned against selling alleged treatments for coronavirus, but it also asked consumers not to use the products since none are approved by the FDA to treat COVID-19.
Among the items the FDA said the conspiracy theory website was selling include, “Superblue Silver Immune Gargle,” “SuperSilver Whitening Toothpaste,” “SuperSilver Wound Dressing Gel” and “Superblue Fluoride Free Toothpaste.” The products were sold on the website and promoted on Infowars videos, the FTC letter said.
The FDA has sent 26 warning letters to companies and organizations claiming to have COVID-19 treatments since March 6. Of those, 14 have been labeled as corrected."
Slippery slope here for those of us who are protective of the right to control our own healthcare. The word "cure" is very different than the word "help" as in help to boost your immune system, etc.
Meanwhile, POTUS is practicing medicine without a license, touting a dangerous drug as a "cure," & refusing to do his job.

The Investigators: Feds say fake COVID-19 tests from China seized at Memphis FedEx facility

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A federal affidavit obtained by WMC Action News 5 states 100 fake COVID-19 tests were recently seized at the FedEx hub in Memphis.
The document claims the tests were purchased by an unnamed person in Oregon who didn’t have a medical license and were manufactured by a company based in China.
The affidavit also mentions a video on a Twitter account that says the product is “effective” but, according to the federal document, “there is no record that this medical device is approved or cleared by the FDA."
“Those commodities need to be inspected, released and cleared through us,” said Mike Neipert, Memphis’s Port Director for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which is based inside FedEx’s international sorting facility.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KCAL/KCBS/CNN) - Dozens of patients were evacuated from a skilled nursing facility in California, where 50 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, after employees failed to show up for work two days in a row.
A total of 83 patients of the Magnolia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Riverside, California, were moved Wednesday to other healthcare locations in the county. More than 50 ambulances responded for the effort, according to county officials.
“I am concerned this could rise to the level of abandonment, no matter how justified the reasoning might be,” said Dr. Cameron Kaiser, the county’s public health officer, at a Wednesday news conference. “The state licensing board will have to determine.”
“I spoke to a nurse this morning, early. She was reporting to work,” one man said. “She was very upset about the fact that people would be leaving. She also mentioned that there had been a lot of discussion amongst the staff of fear.”
Now they are going afyer medical licenses of those who refuse to work without appropriate protection. Anyone surprised?

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - With coronavirus likely to be circulating around the country for months to come, there are already concerns if it will be safe for people to vote later this summer and heading into the 2020 election.
Tennesseeans will be heading back to the polls on August 6 for county elections, plus primary state and federal elections.
Early voting will start sometime in mid-July.
Phillips says she is working with the legislature to allow processing absentee ballots earlier if needed.

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — Virginia Congressman Don Beyer says airports need to join the battle against the coronavirus.
“We’ve always known that airplanes are one of the most dangerous places in the world to pick up viruses and bacteria. All those people in a closed space for a number of hours,” Beyer said.
Beyer wants stricter measures in place at American airports to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“The kinds of steps that you and I or our families are taking aren’t being held there,” Beyer said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Local 24 News learned Thursday the Shelby County Health Department is investigating a possible COVID-19 outbreak at another assisted living facility. Additional data also confirmed, as it did Wednesday, that more than two-thirds of diagnosed cases recorded locally by race, to date, are African-Americans.
As more testing becomes available, health experts also urge anyone feeling even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms to be tested.
"We don't want to lessen or reduce the social distancing too early," Shelby County Health Director Dr. Alisa Haushalter said.
That means staying apart longer and more COVID-19 testing sooner. That's the message Thursday from the Shelby County Health Department, as total cases inch closer to 1,000.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee —
Loads of resources in the fight against the coronavirus landed at the Memphis Air National Guard Base at Memphis International Airport Thursday night.
Airmen from the 164th Airlift Wing delivered 500,000 COVID-19 swab tests. It's the second time in three weeks the mobility command transported that number of swabs to help test people across the United States.
The swabs are produced by an Italian company, which continues to produce them to satisfy its country and global requirements.
Where are they going?????
