The boy who died on Christmas appears to have died of the flu.
US doctors sent him home with cold medicine instead. They don't seem to have tested for flu.

Russia condemns 'Israeli' air strikes on Syria

The foreign ministry of Russia, a key Syrian ally, said it was "very concerned" by the alleged Israeli air strikes.
"The provocative actions of the Israeli air force... directly threatened two airliners," it said.
The statement said the unidentified airliners "not from Russia, were preparing to land at the airports of Beirut and Damascus".
The Syrian military said the attacks were carried out from within Lebanese air space. Syrian state news agency, Sana, said most of the missiles were intercepted.

The article goes on to note that the foot doctor was a tenant of Fred Trump, (Donald’s father). Fred Trump agreed not to increase the foot doctors rent in subsequent years, suggesting the diagnosis was a favor:

8 year old boy died seven days after entering USA
8 year old boy Felipe Alonzo Gomez died seven days after entering USA
Details are beginning to emerge on the death of an 8 year old boy on Christmas eve.
According to news reports, the boy died "shortly after midnight" on Christmas day.
He had arrived in December 18th, 2018.

The ministry said CBP alerted Guatemalan officials of the death on Tuesday. The boy arrived in El Paso with his father December 18 and was transferred to the Alamogordo CBP station on Sunday, according to the statement.
