Felony Charge Dropped Against Homeless Man Dragged Off Subway by NYPD and Punched

(YEah, after the video started making rounds on social media)

Felony Charge Dropped Against Homeless Man Dragged Off Subway by NYPD and Punched
The man was approached by police officers after occupying more than one seat on the subway.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said it will dismiss the felony assault charge it filed against a homeless man who was arrested and punched by a police officer after occupying more than one seat on the subway one day in May.

New York City police officers had attacked the man, identified only as “Joseph,” while attempting to kick him off the train, according to the Legal Aid Society, which is representing him. Officers first approached Joseph for the minor seat offense, which can be a frequent cause of arrest for people who are exhausted or homeless, and the situation soon escalated to violence. Partial body-camera footage from the encounter, which was first reported by The City Tuesday, shows one officer hitting Joseph repeatedly after he refused to get off the train.

Inspired by racial movements- Actor James Rhoday (Psych) Reclaims his Mexican last name Rodriguez

When I read this, I thought about George Floyd's daughter saying " Daddy changed the world" - He sure did, He sure did.

James Roday Details 'Deeply Personal' Decision to Reclaim Birth Name Rodriguez: 'I Want to Be the Most Honest Ally for My Community

James Rodriguez was a freshman at New York University when the then-aspiring actor first learned that his Mexican-American heritage was going to be a problem for Hollywood.

He had just nailed an audition for a big feature film, but the casting director was put off by the fact that his Caucasian-like skin tone was out of sync with his last name. So he was offered the chance to read for the role of a gang member, only to be told that he wasn’t right for that, either.

“I didn’t look Latino enough,” he recalls. “They basically didn’t know what to do with me.”

The movie was Primal Fear. The lead role in question launched Ed Norton’s career

Three years later, on the eve of his college graduation, Rodriguez nailed another big audition for a series-regular role in a buzzy, DreamWorks-produced TV pilot. But the issue of his counterintuitive surname came up again.

“They said, ‘You might want to give some real consideration to changing your name,'” he says.

And with that, James Rodriguez morphed into James Roday.

Two decades later, he’s morphing back: Wednesday’s anticipated premiere of Psych 2: Lassie Come Home (on NBCU’s new streaming platform Peacock) will usher in the arrival of James Roday Rodriguez.

In an extensive interview with TVLine, Rodriguez breaks down those “two inauspicious audition experiences” that led him to drop his birth name, and opens up about how — some two decades later — the death of George Floyd and the global reckoning with racial injustice that it triggered prompted him to take it back. He also reveals the key role his current series, ABC’s A Million Little Things, played in this awakening, and discusses the significance of his new moniker debuting in the opening credits of this week’s Psych sequel

Another day, Another Karen, Another racist gets fired

This dingbat actually taped this herself and posted it online. Gotta love it.

It didn't take long from the time she posted this filth for people to contact the radio station she worked for and she got a ticket to the unemployment line.

Black Lives Matter Protest outside of Parkland HS. - Assholes hold Blue lives matter counter protest

Just saw that on my local news. Looked like mostly HS kids, teenagers, there were some older adults as well. But it looked like a crowd of mostly teens. They only interviewed the teens that talked about the shooting at Parkland and how they thought that it was important that both movements intersect since Parkland had been met with such violence. Across the street the Blue Lives Matter protesters were mostly a bunch of grown ass men trolling teenagers. Some carrying Trump signs. A bunch of grown ass pot bellied men have nothing to do than troll teen agers.

Even building his stupid wall was done to make him look bad? SMDH

Trump rips private Texas border wall built by his supporters

President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized a privately built border wall in South Texas that’s showing signs of erosion months after going up, saying it was “only done to make me look bad,” even though the wall was built after a months-long campaign by his supporters.

The group that raised money online for the wall promoted itself as supporting Trump during a government shutdown that started in December 2018 because Congress wouldn’t fund Trump’s demands for a border wall. Called “We Build the Wall,” the group has raised more than $25 million promoting itself as supporting the president.

Former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon joined the group’s board and Trump ally Kris Kobach became its general counsel. Kobach is now seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Kansas.

The company that built the private section in January, North Dakota-based Fisher Industries, has since won a $1.3 billion border wall contract from the federal government, the largest award to date.

The section in question is a roughly 3-mile (5-kilometer) fence of steel posts just 35 feet (10 meters) from the Rio Grande, the river that forms the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas. That’s much closer to the river than the government ordinarily builds border barriers in South Texas because of concerns about erosion and flooding that could violate U.S. treaty obligations with Mexico.

Trump tweeted Sunday in response to a ProPublica-Texas Tribune report that the riverbank has started to erode. A federal judge on Wednesday ordered attorneys for Fisher Industries and opponents of the private wall to set a schedule for experts to visit the site and inspect any erosion.

“I disagreed with doing this very small (tiny) section of wall, in a tricky area, by a private group which raised money by ads,” Trump wrote. “It was only done to make me look bad, and perhsps it now doesn’t even work. Should have been built like rest of Wall, 500 plus miles.”

So Trump has threatened to Defund Public Schools, Defund the Military, Defund the Post Office

Republicans say what?

Even though because he is so damn clueless, he doesn't even realize that much of the public school funding does not come from the federal government any damn way- but whatever- since he went there- whatever the feds fund, he wants to defund.

And there is no uproar? You can't make this shit up.

Fired for lying on Covid19 employee form. Fair or not? And what is the plan for such events?

A friend of mine works at a restaurant. She's now in quarantine because one of her coworkers tested posted for Covid 19 and she worked the same shift with her. Everyone on that shift was taken off the schedule and was told to quarantine and get tested. My friend has some PTO for 10 days, then after that nothing.

Back to the employee that tested positive- that employee was fired. Fired for lying it seems. Everyday before clocking in, they have to check if they have been exposed to someone who is Covid 19 positive or have any symptoms. This is on top of getting their temps checked. Apparently this employee did have a family member who was Covid 19 positive, but kept coming to work anyway and was checking no on the form to be able to clock in.

Fair firing?

More importantly, what is the plan for these incidents as we go forward? Not for the person with Covid - as I understand that some employers are providing Covid sick leave with pay. Mine does. But the employees that get pulled out of work for possible exposure - My friend is using her 10 days of PTO - She'll have 4 days of no pay.

All this open up conversation, with no real planning as if the virus is just going to magically disappear.

Fulton County DA(Rayshard Brooks) Runoff Election is getting really ugly

DA Paul Howard was on Rev Al's show yesterday, alleging that his democratic run off opponent is taking money from republicans to boost her campaign, and alleging that she is being supported by the police union.

His opponent is Fani Willis. She has accused him of charging the officers too quickly
In the interview linked below, she talks about DA Howard being under investigation for sexual harassment and fraud. She said there are tapes of the sexual harassment. If true- he should go. No doubt. She also brings up the case of Jamarion Robinson who was shot 75 times and why no charges brought in that case - but I am not clear that she would have charged in the Brooks case. It sometimes sounds as if she's straddling the fence - at least to me

Doug Collins has asked William Barr to investigate DA Howard for abuse of power for charging the officers (oh the irony of Barr investigating someone for abuse of power)

Runoff election is Aug 11

I just hope that the Rayshard Brooks case is allowed to go forward, no matter what happens.
