Polybius's JournalMarquita Bradshaw just won the Democratic Senate primary in TN!
She progressive, a big name in the BLM movement, and was not the choice of the Party leaders. Democratic leaders preferred candidate James Mackler.
I for one would love to see what she can do in November. She's a fantastic candidate!
Lacy Clay defeated by progressive primary challenger, CNN projects

(CNN)Cori Bush, a progressive activist and veteran of the racial justice protest movement, defeated 20-year incumbent Missouri Rep. William Lacy Clay in a Democratic primary on Tuesday, a stunning victory for the party's insurgent left.
The US House seat, based in St. Louis, has been held by Clay and his father, former Rep. William Clay Sr., one of the founders of the Congressional Black Caucus, since 1969. Bush, who challenged Clay in 2018 and lost, was the first candidate launched by Justice Democrats, the progressive group dedicated to toppling moderate Democratic congressional incumbents.
Bush's second attempt to unseat Clay, who won in 2018 with 57% of the primary vote, was backed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Sunrise Movement -- a youth-led group that champions the Green New Deal -- and other leftist and progressive leaders, including Jamaal Bowman, who ousted Rep. Eliot Engel in New York during the state's June primary.

Mitch McConnell just opened the door for an extension of the $600 unemployment boost -- if Trump supp
Source: Business Insider
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday that he could support an extension of the now-lapsed $600 federal unemployment insurance boost if President Donald Trump ends up backing it.
At his weekly Senate Republican leadership press conference, McConnell was asked about Speaker Nancy Pelosi's appearing to draw a red line on the weekly federal supplement and whether he could support a negotiated spending package containing it.
"Wherever this thing settles between the president of the United States and his team, who has to sign it into law, and the Democrat, not insignificant minority in the Senate and majority in the House, is something I'm prepared to support," McConnell told reporters. "Even if I have some problems with certain parts of it."
The Kentucky senator added many Republicans would likely not vote for the final stimulus legislation if it restored the measure. It has drawn fierce GOP criticism for months.

I've been saying for days they will cave. But will we get back-pay for missing this week's $600 payment?
Poll: Tommy Tuberville leads Doug Jones by 17 points in Alabama Senate race
Tuberville leads Jones 52 percent to 35 percent. Well this sucks. I thought Jones would fare better against Tubby than Sessions, but it looks like it didn't matter.

The Trump administration is reportedly considering unilateral action on enhanced unemployment benefi
Source: Business Insider
The Trump administration is weighing whether to take unilateral action if it doesn't come to an agreement with Congress on another economic relief bill, The Washington Post reported on Monday, citing two sources who were granted anonymity to discuss the deliberations.
No final decisions were made, and the administration would still rather get legislation through Congress, the sources told The Post.
President Donald Trump said last week that his biggest priorities in negotiations over another stimulus bill were an extension of enhanced unemployment insurance and another moratorium on evictions.
Both measures were implemented under the economic relief package enacted in March. But they expired in late July, and Congress has not moved to extend them.

Any unemployment extension news today?
I seared but I couldn't find anything. Yesterday I read that Trump was caving on the $600, but have seen nothing today. Are they talking?
Let's say an unemployment deal on the $600 a week extension happens in a week or two
For the sake of argument, let's say it happens in two weeks. Will we get back pay for the two weeks that were missed?
What's everyone's guess on extending unemployment benefits?
Several things can happen.
1) They expire at midnight. A deal will be reached some time after expiration (probably in a week or two).
2) A deal is reached before midnight today. This deal will either be continued we get the $600 till January, or lesser benefits such as $400 or $500 per week, or a $600 gradually reduced to $500, then $400, etc.
3) A short-term deal, where they are extended a week or two while they work on the full deal next week.
4) No deal. We go into Election Day with no extended benefits.
Anything I forgot? What's most likely to happen?
Second stimulus check update: Democrats reject White House offer for one-week extension of $600 week
Source: Chicago Tribune
WASHINGTON -- With aid expiring, the White House offered a short-term extension Thursday of a $600 weekly unemployment benefit that has helped keep families and the economy afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Democrats rejected it, saying President Donald Trump's team failed to grasp the severity of the crisis.
Democratic leaders panned the idea in late-night talks at the Capitol, opting to keep the pressure on for a more sweeping bill that would deliver aid to state and local governments, help for the poor and funding for schools and colleges to address the pandemic. Without action, the benefit runs out Friday.
"They want to do one small thing that won't solve the problem," said top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer after meeting with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
"We have to have a bill, but they just don't realize how big it has to be," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif

I'm torn on this. On one hand I want a $600 extension until January. On the other hand, I need Tuesdays's payment. If a deal isn't reached by tomorrow, we might have no choice but to agree to a short extension while they negotiate the full bill.
Trump says coronavirus stimulus checks, direct payments may be more than $1,200
Source: NBC News
WASHINGTON President Donald Trump said Wednesday he wants the next coronavirus relief package to be "very generous" with direct stimulus payments to Americans that are potentially more than $1,200.
"It may go higher than that, actually," Trump said in an interview with ABC affiliate KMID in Texas during a trip to the state.
"I'd like to see it be very high because I love the people," he said. "I want the people to get it."
The president didn't elaborate on how much he's eyeing for the direct payments. When he left the White House earlier in the day, Trump said his priorities for this next relief measure are those payments and an eviction moratorium. He said Congress can take care of other issues "later," acknowledging that Republicans and Democrats are "so far apart" on other major issues.
