Matt, I'm what's called a HSP.....
or Highly Sensitive Person, also known as having Sensory Processing Sensitivity. I dealt with this condition all my life but only discovered the condition and science behind it well into my 60s (I'm 72 now) and it is mostly genetic....probably coming from our primitive ancestors that needed to be highly alert at all times.
I would encourage you to read up on this condition, beginning here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory_processing_sensitivity
and, if you feel it may apply to you, consider further reading here: https://hsperson.com/
Dr. Elaine Aron's work is what allowed me to discover my problem and start doing things to help. I do have her book and find it highly useful.
Other than certain sounds that annoy the hell out of me (leaf blowers, mechanic's side grinders and certain dog barks for example), two of my symptoms are:
1. Trains and other distant sounds: I live near train tracks and I would often hear trains coming a long time before others in my family. I can still hear the engine and track sounds from many miles away.
2. Anytime there are multiple sources of sound, I am unable to think clearly and my mind becomes irritated and confused. For example, if I'm trying to speak with someone in our living room, the TV cannot be loud or else I cannot concentrate on conversation. Even a loud dog bark outside will cause me to lose focus.
Prior to discovering the HSP condition, I thought my hearing was far more sensitive than most other people. As it turns out, that is not the case. Most people's brains "tune out" low level sounds and they just don't notice them, while my brain hears everything.
Regardless of what your condition is, you are not alone and I encourage you to search until you find your answers. If I can help further, please reply or send me a PM.

Enjoyed this interview with Joni Mitchell....
Joni Mitchell: 'I'm a fool for love. I make the same mistake over and over'Guardian UK/Culture Section

As she releases a box set of her earliest recordings, in a rare interview Mitchell talks about life before fame, the correct way to sing her songs and her long struggle to walk and talk again after an aneurysm

Snip......
Some of the tapes are new discoveries, others had been meticulously collected and catalogued years earlier by court archivist Joel Bernstein. When Mitchell recently cranked up her living room stereo and listened to all the material for the first time, the project came to glorious fruition. Neil Young even gave some counsel, suggesting the songs be presented in chronological order. Mitchell, who has usually taken a more thematic approach to collections of her music, agreed.
Finally these rare compositions are all gathered in one place, presented with all the warmth of Mitchells twentysomething self. From her first recordings made during off-hours at a Saskatoon radio station, to a birthday tape made for her mother, to club dates in Philadelphia, Toronto, and New York, its a most personal document. Often armed only with her songs and her tunings, Mitchell begins her transcendent creative journey here.

She plans to run again for speaker, if Democrats keep control of the House: Definitely.
Pelosi said she feels so confident Democrats will keep the House this election, shes already preparing to win the next one in 2022.
She is such a powerhouse for our Party!

Another way to look at it is, to get votes the GOP has brought together the worst people...
in our population that do not want a unified, community-minded society. Their hidden goal it to eliminate anything that restricts power of the wealthy in any way.
There's nothing powerful and ultra-wealthy people fear more than a unified populace working against them.
So, over the last 50 or so years, they've corralled most all of the psychopaths, the majority of high-wealth individuals, most of those who have highly fearful insecure personalities, those whose personalities demand an authoritarian structure in their lives, people who are brainwashed in religion, and millions who are just outright spoiled selfish, self-centered assholes. Just to get their votes.
Did I miss any?
The rest of the decent world is also patiently waiting, holding their breath with us....
and hoping for a brighter, more just America next year. Our leadership is desperately needed right now.
As Thomas Paine said, these are the times that try men's souls.

Community outbreaks of Covid-19 often emerge after Trump's campaign rallies
Community outbreaks of Covid-19 often emerge after Trumps campaign ralliesBy Zach Nayer

Excerpts:
As the death toll of Covid-19 heads toward 220,000 in the United States alone, more deaths than in any other country in the world, the president, who is currently convalescing from Covid-19 himself, has spent the past several months crisscrossing a pandemic-ravaged country in his bid for reelection. The crowds he draws are fertile breeding grounds for transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, followed by community outbreaks.
The president has repeatedly held these gatherings not only in defiance of public health guidelines, but seemingly to spite them: downplaying the threat of the virus, eschewing basic public health principles such as wearing face coverings and packing his supporters shoulder to shoulder for political optics. Several early campaign events were indoors, such as in Tulsa, where there was a reported surge in cases afterwards. Former presidential candidate Herman Cain, who was co-chair of Black Voices for Trump and who attended the Tulsa rally without wearing a mask, tested positive for Covid-19 two days after the rally and died less than two weeks later.

Concerned about the impact of Trumps campaign rallies, Majumdar and I compiled county-based data of new coronavirus cases from each of his general election campaign rallies between Tulsa in late June and Newport News in late September. We looked at case numbers for the 14 days before and after each event to see if any patterns of community outbreaks emerged. We chose 14 days to consider the longest incubation periods, given the median onset from exposure to time of symptoms for Covid-19 is about three to five days.
This issue should have been researched thoroughly long ago but this is the only article I've found so far where professionals tried to do the work. I believe some research was done on the virus hangover from his Rose Garden affair.
I see Trump's events as outright criminal negligence in an elected public official.
He only gets away with it because 1.) the infection effects are delayed for several days, 2.) people attending may be from a widespread area and 3.) because there are no public attendance records or contact tracing so the events can be studied. In addition, all GOP officials try their best to cover-up any news about any Republicans contracting this disease.
Trump just has his fun and walks away Scot-free. And, he does it mostly on our dime, paying for his travels.
KY.......
Trump gets away with it because no one is officially doing contact tracking.
One doctor in Virginia has done some good partial research though:

What we found was sobering yet not surprising. Spikes in Covid-19 cases occurred in seven of the 14 cities and townships where these rallies were held: Tulsa; Phoenix; Old Forge, Penn.; Bemidji, Minn.; Mankato, Minn.; Oshkosh, Wis.; and Weston, Wis.
Studies like this need to be headlined in the MSM news.
Never thought I would live to see a U.S. president have total disregard for his constituent's health and well-being.
