Tom Steyer believes the millennials are our future. So he's spending tens of millions of dollars to organize them, and let them lead the way.
Steyer, a billionaire former hedge fund executive turned liberal political activist, has committed to spending $30 million in 10 states to register and energize progressive, millennial voters $2.5 million of which will fund efforts in Wisconsin, home of Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan.
"We are focused on registering, engaging and empowering the under-represented parts of society, which very much includes millennials," Steyer said in an interview. "Traditionally, people have felt organizing millennials is too expensive, too time-consuming. We feel it is the essence of democracy to make sure the parts of society that arent participating enough participate."
........................ the group plans to have 53 paid staff working on 35 campuses.
At least four of those campuses will be community colleges, which generally don't see the kind of political engagement efforts that larger universities do, a spokesman for the group said. NextGen staff will also target millennials who aren't in school, Steyer said
"Were able to fill some of these gaps that other (organizing) groups arent in," said George Olufosoye, the group's Wisconsin youth organizing director.
In Wisconsin, the group will focus its efforts on supporting Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Democratic challengers to Walker and Ryan........................
Telling kids to walk up not out isn't just wrong it's incredibly dangerous!

Barron Trump's school just took a powerful stance against his father

After his initial indications that he might buck the Republican party and their NRA masters on gun legislation, President Trump reversed course and called for a response to the recent Florida school massacre that would only bring more guns into schools by training and arming teachers.
Now, well get to find out whether having a personal stake in the matter will affect his decision making in regards to gun legislation.
St. Andrews Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, the school attended by Barron Trump, his son with his third and current wife Melania, is one of more than 100 schools in the Greater Washington, D.C. and Maryland area whose principals signed an open letter demanding that the president and Congress do more to solve the epidemic of gun violence without the arming of teachers.
The letter, published today in The Baltimore Sun, was signed by St. Andrews Episcopal School head Robert Kosasky.
We urge our president, our Congress, and our state leaders to enact specific, rigorous measures to reduce gun violence in our society, particularly in our schools, read the entreaty.
We need a robust system of registration and background checks, with a particular eye toward weapons capable of rapidly firing a vast number of deadly shots. We need stronger mental health services and more effective communication among agencies responsible for the well-being of children, adults and families. What we do not need is to arm our teachers with guns, which is dangerous and antithetical to our profession as educators.
Published on a day when thousands of high school students across the country are walking out of classrooms to demand strict gun regulations, regulations that will lead to safer schools, the letter re-emphasizes the belief by most educators that arming teachers is a horrendous idea that will only lead to more guns and more violence in schools.
Lets hope that Barron decides to bring a letter from the principal home from school today
and that his father not only reads it but changes his mind because of it.
Given Trumps reputation for being a distant and uninvolved parent, however, it would be best not to hold your breath too long waiting for anything to happen.

Students in Wisconsin are organizing a 50-mile march to Speaker Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) hometown later this month to demand action on gun control.
The students plan to begin the trek, called "March for Our Lives: 50 Miles More," in Madison, Wis., and will march to Janesville, Wis. The 50-mile march will begin on March 25, a day after the March for Our Lives event, where people will rally in Washington, D.C. and across the country for action against gun violence.
The 50 Miles More March co-leader Katie Eder, a senior at Shorewood High School in Wisconsin, said she knows it's easy for the media and politicians to move on from gun violence tragedies.
"We have grown up experiencing school shootings followed by this inaction, and we refuse to let it happen this time, she said in a press release.
