Would you support a mandatory nationwide shutdown?

All non-essential/critical roles required to self quarantine at home for a duration of time?

Our grocery chain closed overnight to stock...

Generally a 24 hour grocery store.

Over 100 people lined up overnight for the reopening at 6 a.m.

Everything’s gone already.

Insane.

During the CEO Meet & Greet which delayed the presser...

What are you willing to wager that he shook everyones hand individually prior to their photo op despite CDC guidelines...

Bet on it.

The presser was filthy...

I feel gross for even having watched it.

Simply an enormous private sector circle jerk.

They should have just hung their logos from the WH balconies to declare how proud they are of them...

Ick.

Source: Bloomberg

President Donald Trump said he will suspend all travel from Europe to the U.S. for the next 30 days, the most far-reaching measure yet in the administration’s efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The restrictions, which will not apply to the U.K., will go into effect Friday at midnight, he said Wednesday in an Oval Office address.

GOV. CUOMO ORDERS CONTAINMENT ZONE IN NEW ROCHELLE, CALLS IN NATIONAL GUARD

NEW ROCHELLE, Westchester County (WABC) -- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is accepting a recommendation to shut down a one-mile radius in New Rochelle, Westchester County, because of the coronavirus outbreak. He has called on the National Guard to help in the effort to curb the spread of the virus in the suburb just north of New York City.

Cuomo describes New Rochelle as having "a particular problem" with a cluster of cases and contains a much higher number of positive cases than New York City.

He said officials are focusing on a one-mile radius around the center of where the outbreak started and setting up a containment area between March 12 and March 25.

N.Y. Creates 'Containment Zone' Limiting Large Gatherings in New Rochelle

Source: NYT

With New Rochelle, a small city just north of New York City in Westchester County, emerging as the epicenter of the state’s outbreak, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday announced a targeted containment strategy to halt the spread of the virus.

“New Rochelle, at this point, is probably the largest cluster of these cases in the United States,” he said at a news conference on Tuesday.

The state’s plan focuses on a “containment area” in New Rochelle, where it would deploy the National Guard to clean schools and deliver food to quarantined residents, Mr. Cuomo said.

The area is a one-mile radius centered around a synagogue in New Rochelle believed to connect many of the cases in the cluster, officials said.

Coachella Organizers Aim to Delay Music Festival Until October

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival organizers are aiming to delay the event in California after the confirmation of a coronavirus case prompted local health officials to declare a state of emergency, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Under the plan, Coachella -- slated for April 10-12 and April 17-19 -- would be rescheduled for October, according to the person, who asked not to be identified because the change hasn’t been made public yet.

The move would attempt to preserve an event that’s become the world’s highest-grossing festival in recent years, generating more than $100 million annually, according to live-entertainment data provider Pollstar. This year’s lineup includes Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean.

Nurses Battling Coronavirus Beg for Protective Gear and Better Planning

Concerns from nurses in Washington State and California echo those of nurses nationwide. National Nurses United, a union that represents about 150,000 nurses across the country, announced on Thursday the sobering results of an online survey it recently conducted.

Of the 6,500 nurses who participated, 29 percent said their hospitals had a plan in place to isolate potential coronavirus patients, and 44 percent said they had received guidance from their employers about how to handle the virus.

Sixty-three percent had access to N95 face masks, and a quarter of the respondents had access to an even more protective mask recommended by the union, known as a PAPR, or a powered air purifying respirator.

One California nurse, who is in a 14-day self-quarantine after caring for a coronavirus patient, complained that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was not testing her for the virus quickly enough. “This is not the ticket dispenser at the deli counter; it’s a public health emergency!” she wrote in a statement shared by National Nurses United.
