So how did Hillary's brother go from being a prison guard to owning a gold mine in Haiti?

Just wondering about that. You don't see that every day. He must be exceptionally talented and bootstraps.

MORNE BOSSA, Haiti — Drive down the rutted dirt road a couple of miles to the guardhouse, then hike 15 minutes up to the overgrown hilltop, and there it is: a piece of 3 1/2 -inch-wide PVC pipe sticking out of the ground.

This is what, at least for the time being, a gold mine looks like.

It also has become a potentially problematic issue for Hillary Rodham Clinton as she considers a second presidential run, after it was revealed this month that in 2013, one of her brothers was added to the advisory board of the company that owns the mine.

Tony Rodham’s involvement with the mine, which has become a source of controversy in Haiti because of concern about potential environmental damage and the belief that the project will primarily benefit foreign investors, was first revealed in publicity about an upcoming book on the Clintons by author Peter Schweizer.

In interviews with The Washington Post, both Rodham and the chief executive of Delaware-based VCS Mining said they were introduced at a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative — an offshoot of the Clinton Foundation that critics have long alleged invites a blurring of its charitable mission with the business interests of Bill and Hillary Clinton and their corporate donors.
...

Rodham, a former repo man, prison guard and private detective, has long been a source of controversy for the Clintons. Among other things, he and his brother, Hugh, caused consternation in the Clinton White House in 1999 for trying to operate a hazelnut-processing business in the Republic of Georgia with political opponents of the Georgian president, who was a U.S. ally at the time.

Hillary is risky to nominate because she has stuff like this.

Hillary's long list of racist comments should disqualify her from the Democratic nomination

Sometimes it seems Hillary is trying to out-Trump Trump over who can be more politically incorrect.

A racial joke about Indian Americans working at gas stations. Very funny?

Super-Predators. Got to bring them to heel.

Casual racist comment toward Native Americans: She can handle men who get "off the reservation". So very casual it's clearly the way she thinks, it runs very deep.

Calling undocumented people "illegal". Throws in sterotypes of foreigners hanging out on the corner waiting to do "yard work" etc. These comments are Widely understood to be offensive toward Latinos. Hillary has since apologized and promised to stop talking like this.

Speaking of Iraqi Arabs as if they are children who need to learn we're only doing them a favor.

Joining in with a scripted racial joke about Colored People Time

Is there any race or ethnic group Hillary Clinton hasn't had to apologize to? Somebody should make a checklist on which of these comments she has already apologized for and which ones we are still waiting for an apology.

This is garbage. Not at all presidential. This list is just another reason Hillary Clinton ought to be disqualified from the Democratic nomination.

To all the people who pushed Hillary on us even though she is less electable

I wish you wouldn't have done that.

You're to blame if Trump wins.

"Neutral" DNC Vice Chair tone polices Bernie Sanders for saying "lesser of two evils"

Bernie stated the obvious, that voters see Hillary Clinton as the lesser of two evils compared to Donald Trump.

Duh.

Donna Brazile sets him straight: ?

@donnabrazile
Primaries can be contentious, but we Democrats don't call each other evil. #ThisWeek.
https://twitter.com/donnabrazile/status/734368482347896834

He didn't call Hillary evil. "Lesser of two evils" is an idiom that means something is less bad than the alternative. It doesn't mean supernatural evil or any other kind necessarily. And Donna Brazile knows that. Her tone policing is unnecessary and contrived to make Bernie look bad and to kiss Hillary's ass.

It's not the first time she's jumped in to create the impression Bernie said something out of line when he was simply stating the obvious.

She previously called it extremely disgraceful when Bernie said he ran in the Democratic primaries because the media doesn't cover independent candidates.

Bill Clinton encouraged bigoted, sexist Islamophobe to run for president

Bill Clinton advised racist woman-hating fascist and encouraged him to play larger role in politics

Former president Bill Clinton had a private telephone conversation in late spring with Donald Trump at the same time that the billionaire investor and reality-television star was nearing a decision to run for the White House, according to associates of both men.

Four Trump allies and one Clinton associate familiar with the exchange said that Clinton encouraged Trump’s efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party and offered his own views of the political landscape.

Clinton’s personal office in New York confirmed that the call occurred in late May, but an aide to Clinton said the 2016 race was never specifically discussed and that it was only a casual chat.

The talk with Clinton — the spouse of the Democratic presidential front-runner and one of his party’s preeminent political strategists — came just weeks before Trump jumped into the GOP race and surged to the front of the crowded Republican field.

Progressive blogger fired for calling Hillary Clinton ally a 'scumbag'

A progressive blogger was fired Friday for referring to a Hillary Clinton ally as a “scumbag,” igniting a fiery social-media exchange between the two and other high-profile writers who are at odds over the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
...

Bruenig said Tanden “tried to starve me and my mother because she wanted to be in Democratic politics,” and advanced the position that Tanden supported welfare reform in the 1990s, when Bill Clinton was president. Bruenig has been critical of Clinton in his writings, calling her "an enemy of the poor" and "a garbage rich person."

Tanden tweeted at Bruenig that “having been on welfare myself, don’t need lectures on this topic from you.”

Bruenig replied with this tweet: “Scumbag Neera uses welfare when she needs it then takes away from others when they need it. Disgusting.”

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/matt-bruenig-neera-tanden-joan-walsh-hillary-clinton-223439

Consensus among progressive twitter seems to be that Demos overreacted by firing Matt Bruenig, who has done very good work researching and reporting on child poverty. Also that Hillary allies blew this way out of proportion, which led to him being fired.

Some reactions can be seen here:

Neera T. and her crew helped get Matt Bruenig fired. Her comments about healthcare "freeloaders" were 1000 times more offensive. Maybe Neera Tanden should be fired.
