Clinton Touts White Support

She sees a pattern of whites opposing Obama emerging. It must be gratifying to receive that kind of support and validation from your own people.

The economy is racist. Economic and racial justice are inextricably linked

Everyone knows it.

We need structural reforms. Our capitalist economic system needs an underclass of workers to exploit for cheap labor. And it needs the racial caste system to divide people and keep us from uniting along class lines, which is how we can change this.

This isn't an accident. It's part of the structure of the economy.

We don't have to live like this. We can change this if we unite and fight back.

Bernie Sanders is the best candidate to attack this issue. He wants to give workers and communities more power over the economic decisions that affect our lives. Bernie understands that when working class people unite across racial lines, we have real power, and we can change this system permanently by getting to the root causes. Not just tinker around the edges.

Hillary Clinton won't do it. She won't challenge the structure of the economy because all her best friends are sitting at the top of the pyramid. Bernie Sanders understands the economy is like this because the people at the top benefit big time by keeping it this way, and by keeping the people divided. And he's willing to take them on.

"The shameful Bernie race smear: Hillary supporters have played a dirty, dangerous game"

The toxicity -- and falseness -- of the "Bernie so white" narrative is a real stain on Democrats and the left

Nothing this primary season in the Democratic presidential race will come close to the sheer lunacy of behavior transpiring in a Republican Party on the verge of self-implosion. But unfortunately, in the non-Trump dominated side of the U.S. political world there also has been some alarming behavior on the left that can’t be ignored. And while Hillary Clinton has received the usual share of sexist and misogynistic comments, it has been Bernie Sanders and, in particular, his supporters who have endured a lot of ridiculous things.

The constant drumbeat of “Bernie’s plans aren’t realistic,” “Bernie’s plans aren’t passable” and the “BernieBro” have reached their own level of online fame. Although all three of those have their own major flaws, a discussion has been made extensively about them that has created sustained negatives around the septuagenarian candidate and his fans.

One key aspect that has been bubbling for a while now, spun off from the BernieBro label and not discussed like it needs to be, is the opponents or most acerbic critics of Sanders, intentionally or unintentionally, implying that his supporters have no noticeable racial diversity or that his campaign doesn’t appeal to minority voters.

What’s so troubling about this enduring narrative is the disturbing insistence on completely ignoring or aggressively dismissing any of Bernie’s minority supporters who aren’t famous. It’s a focused and determined echo on painting Sanders as truly representing only young or old white liberals, and that Sanders and his backers are unable to acknowledge or express white systemic privilege. And in either their strong support for Clinton or their unwillingness to fully analyze Sanders fairly or comprehensively on race, one of this election’s deleterious aspects on the left can no longer be dismissed.

The toxicity of the “Bernie is white and for whites only” drive has become even more glaring over the last month, with cleverly crafted smears at Sanders hitting exactly the sustained narrative they wanted to hit and fueled by Clinton’s legacy domination of the black vote.

Pie Chart: Delegate count as of March 27

4051 total pledged delegates

Hillary has 1243

Bernie has 975

Up for grabs: 1833

Needed for majority of pledged delegates: 2026

Bernie would need 1051 more to reach a majority of pledged delegates

1051/1833 = .573 =~ 57%

Bernie would need to win about 57% of pledged delegates between now and June 7 for a majority.

Is Hillary letting Bernie win a few states just so it won't seem like a coronation?

It doesn't seem like she is really trying too hard in some of the states.

If her campaign is sure they are on a path to win the nomination, it would be better for her to lose a few so it seems like there is an actual democracy with a real contest.

If Bernie were to get too badly beaten or if he were to drop out, his supporters might feel like the system was rigged or the election is fake nonsense.
