Press Secretary Steffi DUI Grisham high-fives Individual 1 over "hurting" Repubs with impeachment

Stephanie Grisham
@PressSec

Yes! Dems do nothing but weaponize politics when they should be working on behalf of their constituents. President Trump is here in NYC working hard on behalf of our country, while the dems continue to stomp their feet & shout the word impeachment. Nothing new here.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

The Democrats are so focused on hurting the Republican Party and the President that they are unable to get anything done because of it, including legislation on gun safety, lowering of prescription drug prices, infrastructure, etc. So bad for our Country!

Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter dies at 78

Robert Hunter, the inventive lyricist who helped shape so many Grateful Dead songs, died Monday night at age 78. No immediate cause of death was given.

"It is with great sadness we confirm our beloved Robert passed away yesterday night," Hunter's family says in an official statement. "He died peacefully at home in his bed, surrounded by love. His wife Maureen was by his side holding his hand."

Hunter, who was born Robert Burns on June 23, 1941, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., met the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia in 1961 – but declined to join his jug band. Instead, Hunter pursued writing at Stanford University before leaving school. The songs kept piling up.

"I moved to New Mexico and it occurred to me to send the lyrics to those songs to Jerry because the Dead had formed," Hunter told Alan Paul in 2015. "And he wrote back and said, 'Why don't you come back to California and be our lyricist?' So, I hitchhiked back to San Francisco and met up with them in Rio Nido. They were working on 'Dark Star,' and I wrote the lyrics to it right then. It just started working immediately."

29 House Dems added in favor of impeachment action in the last 48 hours

Ali Velshi has a map of the house seats on split screen. He just said that 29 House Dems added in favor of impeachment action in the last 48 hours. This morning and early afternoon, it seems like 2 or so being added every hour.

Trump: India's PM like "an American version of Elvis, an all-American -- Elvis Presley came back"

The U.S. president gave a news conference Tuesday afternoon alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose right-wing leadership he has frequently praised.

“I remember India before,” Trump told reporters, “now not intimately, but I remember India before, it was very torn, there was a lot of dissension, a lot of fighting, and he brought it all together, like a father would bring it together. Maybe he’s the father of India, we’ll call him the father of India. I think that’s not so bad, but he brought things together. You don’t hear that anymore.”

Another reporter asked Trump about the joint rally they held Sunday in Houston, where the prime minister met with energy companies vying for part of a $100 billion market to diversify the country’s power generation.

“Tremendous spirit in that room, and they loved this gentleman to my right, they really do,” Trump said. “Those people went crazy. That was like Elvis, that was like an American, he was like an American version of Elvis. It was like we brought in the middle of an all-American — Elvis Presley came back. That was quite something, they love your prime minister, it’s a great thing.”

Per MSNBC, Biden "expected to deliver a statement" around 2 PM from Delaware

Craig Melvin just announced it.

Given the developments of the last few days, this should be very interesting.

The "Trump wants to be impeached" / "Trump DOESN'T want to be impeached" debate

As potential impeachment became the main topic of yesterday's cable news, pundits are ping-ponging between "Trump wants to be impeached" / "Trump DOESN'T want to be impeached" with equal conviction.

And the SADDEST part of this is that the logic works from both sides.

1). A flood of NEW Trump choruses of "no collusion, no obstruction" if the proceedings make it to the Senate and Mitch refuses to let it come to a vote, as Bill Barr, Kellyanne Conway, Steven Miller, Ivanka, Don Jr, and Lindsey Graham join hands at the on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and sing "We Are The World" (Melania won't be there...trust me).

2). His Achilles heel is STILL his ego, impeachment will be the crown jewel of his "legacy," and no matter WHAT he "says," this will be a bitter freakin' pill for him to swallow. Your kids, grand kids and THEIR grand kids will learn about Trump all over the world, and every teacher's lesson will begin with "Donald Trump, who was impeached in his first term..."

For my friends on DU who were around for (and / or are aware of) Nixon's Watergate years, IMAGINE if he had run around crying about all of the Nobel prizes he should be winning, as the hearings ramped up around him daily. Imagine if he took a cheap shot at a 16 year old girl who shows more courage in a single day than he's shown in his entire life.
