U.S. provoked North Korea to fire missile, says Russia

The U.S. and South Korea are to blame for North Korea’s latest missile launch over Japan, and further sanctions on the regime will not ameliorate the situation, Russia said Tuesday.

In defiance of U.N. resolutions banning its missile testing and fresh international sanctions drafted by the U.S., North Korea carried out another missile test on Tuesday morning, the fourth in as many days, this time directly over Japan for the first time. The regime has already traded barbs with President Donald Trump due to its repeated missile testing and expanding range, including a direct threat made at U.S. pacific territory Guam.

Anticipating more of the same to follow, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told journalists on Tuesday that U.S. actions were pushing the regime toward more tests, not halting it, state news agency Itar-Tass reported.

“If we go by how colleagues from the U.S. and other western countries have acted in the past, then of course we can expect new steps towards tightening the sanctions, but this will not solve the problem,” Ryabkov said. “It is now obvious to everyone that the resources for influencing North Korea with sanctions have run out.”

Peter Cvjetanovic was the angry face illuminated by torches that the nation watched turn into violence in Charlottesville, Virginia a few weeks ago. Now, the University of Nevada, Reno, student is quitting his on-campus job.

In an interview with 4-Fox 11, Cvjetanovic said “other students might not appreciate me” as their campus escort driver. He claimed that it would probably be best for everyone if he walked away.

“The thing about it, it’s very much a social interaction and requires a lot of trust both ways.” Cvjetanovic explained. “I quit because I want to have some form of peace at the university.”

He was quickly identified at the Unite the Right rally that left one young woman, Heather Heyer, dead. Cvjetanovic came out as a white nationalist and member of Identity Evropa, classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. He swore “I’m not the angry racist they see,” after his photo went viral.

Speaking with Vanity Fair’s David Drucker, conservative pollsters and GOP consultants privately admitted that they loathe President Donald Trump but are stuck with him and have no choice but to make the best of a bad situation.

Among the two dozen strategists and consultants who make a living advising GOP candidates, Drucker found few who like due Trump to his bombast and lack of discipline, with one frustrated consultant admitting, “From a personal standpoint, I think this president f*cking sucks. He’s not even a Republican.”

The dilemma for the consultant class is that they have to advise office-holders and potential candidates on how to shape their message when they have Trump as not only the face of the party, but as the leader of a small but rabid following.

“Your heart tells you that he’s bad for the country. Your head looks at polling data among Republican primary voters and sees how popular he is,” explained a Republican strategist who requested anonymity. “It would be malpractice not to advise clients to attach themselves to that popularity.”

According to Crooks and Liars, Joel Osteen is singing a new tune after being blasted online for not allowing people into his church in the midst of Hurricane Harvey. He is now reportedly preparing to open the doors of his Lakewood Megachurch in Houston to people seeking refuge from the storm.

LGBTQ activist Charles Clymer posted an image of air mattresses in the Lakewood church, along with a caption that said the church is “prepping to open their doors.”

According to Bloomberg Politics, George Gigicos, the former White House director of advance events, was told in no uncertain terms that he would never organize another rally for the president after Phoenix.

Three different sources told Bloomberg that Trump had his top security aide, Keith Schiller, inform Gigicos that he was out.

According to the report, “Gigicos had staged the event in a large multipurpose room. The main floor space was bisected by a dividing wall, leaving part of the space empty. There were some bleachers off to the side, but otherwise the audience was standing — and the scene appeared flat, lacking the energy and enthusiasm of other rallies.”

Trump is known to brag about his crowds, but later video showed that the crowd was even smaller in real life which angered the president who had boasted that 15,000 attendees had showed up — far fewer than local media reported.

We were brought inside the large garage and cuffed. The doors shut again. Before too long, the doors raised again and they brought in more people, including members of the press and legal observers – people who were not protesting, merely witnessing.

At one point a young man was pulled in by two officers while yelling “I am not resisting arrest. I am not resisting arrest.” I watched as they dragged him behind several vans holding other protesters. I next saw him 10 minutes later. He had been severely beaten. As he began to lose consciousness while waiting to be booked, an officer grabbed him by the hair, slammed his head against the wall and called him a baby.

Sadly this was not the only act of violence my colleagues and/or I witnessed that night. One of the Latina women endured racial slurs while being arrested. Another Latina had her face slammed against the window of a cell containing fellow clergy protesters. They watched as her blood streamed down the window.
