the recent Rethug penchant to nominate some of the most extreme psychopathic/sociopathic imbeciles in the history of politics makes them vulnerable in almost every election. Sharon Angle lost to Harry Reid. Christine, the Witch lost. Pro-rape Mourdock lost in Indiana.
Repubs will nominate a class of even crazier noms in 2014. They will set themselves up to fall on their own swords.
Don't lose faith in the upcoming 2014 election. Dems have a real chance to win back the house. Rethug craziness will play a role in helping Dems win. Crazy isn't quite as fashionable to the electorate as it once was.

It's not so much govt that they hate as they truly hate democracy which has become thoroughly evident in recent years with the GOP war against voting.
Bill Clinton campaigned on ending gridlock in 1992. I still remember him speaking out against Republican gridlock during his stump speeches. He rarely gave a campaign speech without bringing up the topic of how gridlock had for too long ground Washington DC to a halt.
The message resonated well with voters in 1992. Obama has been wise to hit Repubs hard on their obstructionism but I'd like to hear him hammer them on gridlock and do so every time he speaks publicly.
The voters are fed up with gridlock. It's a GOTV message that will resonate well with voters. And always keep reminding voters that the GOP has declared war on every Dem's right to vote.
The GOP is about as popular as a case of athletes foot with voters. Their approval sits at about 19%. They're ripe for defeat in 2014. A strong GOTV effort by Dems can help us win back the house and maintain or grow the Dem lead in the Senate. Many state offices and governorships are at stake as well. We need a strong GOTV message.
Hammer Rethugs on gridlock and ask voters if they're going to let Rethugs keep them home on election day. Remember, midterm congressional elections don't always favor the Pres' party and often don't favor Dems due to lower turnout, but this election cycle is different. We have a real shot at winning back control of the house if we can just rally voters through a good GOTV effort.
TPP is a turnout/GOTV KILLER ensuring low turnout, ensuring a Repub House possible Senate
In 10 years when Obama has long left office, like Bill Clinton, Obama will give a speech admitting that TPP and advancing more wage-free trade was a colossal mistake, like Bill Clinton has admitted that NAFTA was a mistake.
In the meantime, Dems have a real chance to take back the House in 2014. But that 'real chance' is 100% reliant on voter turnout. Dems don't win elections when turnout is low. Dems usually win when turnout is moderate or high.
Congressional elections often mean low turnout but in 2014 people have plenty of reason to turnout and vote.
UNLESS THEY ARE DEEPLY FRUSTRATED BY BAD POLICY-MAKING. TPP, advancing wage-free trade is exactly the kind of bad policy-making that will keep the voters at home.

For the past two months I've been teaching a course entitled "Plagues and Politics: The Impact of AIDS on U.S. Culture" at Dartmouth College and have spent an enormous amount of time thinking about the AIDS pandemic.

As we read about and discuss the history of the American AIDS epidemic in class, my students — all Reagan babies, born between 1981 and 1985 — are often dumbfounded when faced with simple facts. Although AIDS was first reported in the medical and popular press in 1981, it was only in October of 1987 that President Reagan publicly spoke about the epidemic. By the end of that year 59,572 AIDS cases had been reported and 27,909 of those women and men had died. How could this happen, they ask? Didn't he see that this was an ever-expanding epidemic? How could he not say anything? Do anything?
But the public scandal over the Reagan administration's reaction to AIDS is complex and goes much deeper, far beyond the commander-in-chief's refusal to speak out about the epidemic. Reagan understood that a great deal of his power resided in a broad base of born-again Christian Republican conservatives who embraced a deeply reactionary social agenda of which a virulent, demonizing homophobia was a central tenet. In the media men such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell articulated these sentiments that portrayed gay people as diseased sinners and promoted the idea that AIDS was a punishment from God and that the gay rights movement had to be stopped. In the Republican Party, zealous right-wingers such as Rep. William Dannemeyer of California and Senator Jesse Helms of North Carolina hammered home this message. In the Reagan White House, people such as Secretary of Education William Bennett and Gary Bauer, Reagan's domestic policy adviser, worked to enact it in the administration's policies.
What did this mean in practical terms? Most importantly, AIDS research was chronically under-funded. When doctors at the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health asked for more funding for their work on AIDS, they were routinely denied it. Between June 1981 and May 1982 the CDC spent less than $1 million on AIDS and $9 million on Legionnaire's Disease. At that point more than 1,000 of the 2,000 reported AIDS cases resulted in death; there were fewer than 50 deaths from Legionnaire's Disease. This drastic lack of funding would continue through the Reagan years.
When health and support groups in the gay community were beginning to initiate education and prevention programs, they were denied federal funding. In October 1987 Senator Helms amended a federal appropriations bill to prohibit AIDS education efforts that "encourage or promote homosexual activity" — that is, efforts that tell gay men how to have safe sex.
When Rock Hudson, a friend and colleague of the Reagans, was diagnosed with AIDS and died in 1985 (one of the 20,740 cases reported that year), Reagan still did not speak out as president. When family friend William F. Buckley, in a March 18, 1986, New York Times opinion article, called for mandatory testing for HIV and said that HIV-positive gay men should have this information forcibly tattooed on their buttocks (and IV-drug users on their arms) Reagan said nothing. In 1986 (after five years of complete silence), when Surgeon General C. Everett Koop released a report calling for AIDS education in schools, Bennett and Bauer did everything possible to undercut and prevent funding for Koop's too-little-too-late initiative. Reagan, again, said and did nothing. By the end of 1986, 37,061 AIDS cases had been reported; 16,301 people had died.
I told one of my students that the most memorable Reagan AIDS moment for me was at the 1986 centenary rededication of the Statue of Liberty. The Reagans were there sitting next to French President Francois Mitterand and his wife, Danielle. Bob Hope was on stage entertaining the all-star audience. In the middle of a series of one-liners Hope quipped, "I just heard that the Statue of Liberty has AIDS but she doesn't know if she got it from the mouth of the Hudson or the Staten Island Fairy." As the television camera panned the audience, the Mitterands looked appalled. The Reagans were laughing. By the end of 1989 and the Reagan years, 115,786 women and men had been diagnosed with AIDS in the United States, and more than 70,000 of them had died.

I am HIV positive. I am a gay man. I've been HIV+(poz) for 7 years. I'm one of the few lucky ones, diagnosed as a non-progresser. HIV likely won't go anywhere in my body. It won't advance to AIDS. It won't destroy my immune system. I'm healthier than the average American. I eat healthy and exercise. My immune system lab #'s are better than many Americans who don't have HIV. My last CD4 T-cell count was 1380 when the average American who doesn't have HIV would likely test at 700-900. An official AIDS diagnosis is given when CD4's drop below 200.
I am HIV med-free as of today. My HIV viral, the amount of virus in my blood, is very low, near undetectable. But, for the people that need HIV meds, they are a life-saving marvel of science. I will explain HIV meds later in this OP.
My doc is doing a study on my raw vegan diet and how it plays a possible role in my immune system's strength. Because of the marvels of modern science and medicine, we are now defeating HIV and are now on course to eradicate this plague. The last obstacle is cost of overpriced HIV meds, lack of generic meds, expensive/unaffordable healthcare. Access to quality, affordable healthcare could nearly eradicate this plague TODAY.
1996- The results of Bill Clinton's global AIDS initiatives and his push for AIDS research funding began to pay immediate dividends. A new word entered the HIV medical community- undetectable. New anti-HIV medications were bringing HIV viral loads down to undetectable levels. Undetectable viral load means that the virus cannot be detected in blood tests. There is no visible presence of the virus. It's as if the virus has been wiped out in said patient. Soon, many patients on meds began to see their viral load #'s plummet or go undetectable. 1996, we began turning the corner on saving HIVers from sure death.
Bill Clinton declared war on AIDS, compared to Reagan. If not for Bill Clinton, I'm not sure where we'd be in regard to winning the war against this plague. Bill Clinton's presidency is key in the history of fighting this plague and key to us turning the corner and defeating HIV by keeping HIVers alive and healthy with the marvels of science, medicine, R&D of newer, better meds with fewer side-effects and less toxicity.
Bill Clinton deserves credit and deserves to be held in high regard for his fight against AIDS. His presidency saved millions from death due to AIDS. It's that simple. I know that there is plenty to be angry at Bubba about, NAFTA, deregulation etc.
Regarding HIV/AIDS, Bill Clinton is a bit of hero to me.
As said earlier, a diagnosis of AIDS is given when CD4 T-cells fall below 200. At zero, the immune system fails to defend the body against infections. I personally know several HIVers who've previously fell to zero CD4's go on meds and see their immune systems rebound back to good health in most cases. That's how powerful these new meds are.
UNDETECTABLE- Please learn that word. Every Dem should know the meaning of that word. It's how we are eradicating a plague and winning the war against HIV and Reagan.
Undetectable also makes HIV nearly impossible to transmit. The medical community still won't admit that fact but the research is becoming quite clear. No measurable presence of the virus in an HIVer means that it is very unlikely that said person could actually transmit the virus. I've asked my HIV specialist if there are any known cases of an undetectable HIVer ever spreading HIV and he said none that he knows of.
To me the evidence is clear. If it weren't for overpriced, greedy, for-profit meds and unaffordable for-profit healthcare, we'd be nearly eradicating this plague, globally and here in America. The lack of affordable generics is sickening, literally and figuratively. Many of these life saving meds have been on the market for 20 years and still no generics. WTF is up with that shit?

Dem turnout drive message: Vote or Republicans will take that right from you.
Voter turnout. Dems either win elections with it(high turnout) or often lose without it(low turnout).
To me it's a sign of a decent society when high national voter turnout clearly favors our side, the Democratic Party. When voters turnout, we(Dems) win. It's that simple.
So a massive voter turnout drive by our party should perhaps be the highest priority for our party's election committee's(DNC, DCCC, DSCC etc). Democrats need to buy airtime and condemn Repub attempts to make voting much more difficult and to challenge all voters to turnout and VOTE.
Vote as if there is an entire political party dedicated to taking your fucking right to vote. Because there is an entire political party HELL BENT on trying to take away your right to vote. They're called Republicans.
Challenge voters. Democrats need a strong turnout drive presence in every public college university across this country(private colleges too, well besides Liberty "U"

If voter turnout is pretty strong in 2014, Democrats stand a good chance of winning many elections and perhaps even taking back the House and maybe even some governorships.
Why?
Because Republicans are still licking their wounds from 2012's defeats and are still looking around hopelessly for answers. The wealthy poured record amounts of cash into 2012's campaign season in an effort to elect more Rethugs. That massive 'investment' paid little dividend. The wealthy don't like bad investments. The greedy hate parting with their cash without getting their way in return. When Rethugs lose elections, it means that wealthy corporatists and Club for Growth'ers didn't get their way.
Republicans might have a fund-raising problem on their hands, compared to the endless cash that flowed their way in 2012 and 2010. I think we all know that the wealthy will still donate to GOPers but those donations may be smaller and superpac fundraising could be a problem for them. Compared to 2010 and 12, Republicans could have fundraising problems on their hands.
Tealiban extremism has turned the Teabag movement into a shell of its 2010 self. Republicans have zero momentum as of today.
Going into 2014's campaign season, Repubs have no momentum like they had with the Tea Party in 2010's shellacking of Dems.
Repubs rode the momentum generated by the Tea Party, along with low voter turnout, along with record campaign cash war chests to said victory in 2010.

Repub extremism has driven many people away from that party. The GOP could have a turnout problem in 2014 just due to the fact that their extremism has caused the GOP to fall on its own sword.
Simply put, less people support the GOP now and fewer want to associate with the GOP's right-wing extremism. The Tealiban turned out to be an embarrassment to moderates that were swept up by the lies that the Tealiban fronted itself as.
2014 could be a real opportunity for the Democratic Party if our party embraces a massive voter turnout effort. The voter turnout drive needs to start yesterday. 2014's campaign clock is already ticking.
2014 actually looks like the best chance of Dems winning in a non-presidential, congressional election cycle that I can remember in a long time. Don't lose faith, fellow Dems. Instead lets set our sites on winning 2014.

Look at the skin on your arm. A healthy adult body, in a state of true vitality will be able to see blood veins all throughout the arm. They utterly stick out on a very healthy, detoxified person.
If you can't see your veins, then you have thick toxic skin. Basically you have a plugged lymph system. Plugged with toxins. They accumulate in your skin, glands, internal organs. The reasons your skin becomes thick from toxins is inflammation caused by the accumulation of toxins. From the 'food' you likely eat, the water you drink, the air you breathe.
I practice a skin detoxifying method known in many Asian cultures as Gua Sha. I'm a 42yo white guy with fairly pale skin. Gua Sha is a technique that scrapes the toxicity out of the skin. When I first began Gua Sha, the pus coming out of my skin was a brown sludge that almost made me gag. My whole body's skin surface produced this brown icky poor pus.
Ever seen toxins come out of your skin as a brown pus? Enough to turn a large white towel brown as I wipe it off? Brown stains all over said towel. That's how toxic my skin once was. I still Gua Sha to this day because we are continually bombarded with toxicity. We need CONSTANT detoxification or we start to become ill with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, rheumatica, glandular diseases, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, rapid-aging skin, aging internal organs. Our immune systems wither in a state of toxicity. So bad that our immune system can turn against us with auto-immune diseases, like arthritis and diabetes.
Toxic-driven inflammation is one of human-kinds worst detriments to health and vitality. Coronary heart disease is a disease of inflammation. The formation of arterial plaque results from inflamed heart tissue causing inflamed coronary arteries. Inflammation is like a gathering point for plaque, which slowly closes the coronary arteries until blood can't flow through them anymore, resulting in a massive heart attack.
Toxic, inflamed internal organs CANNOT work at their maximum efficiency. The pancreas becomes diabetic, the liver can no longer filter and detoxify, bile stored in the gallbladder turns to sludge which congeals into gall stones, creating a digestive nightmare. Toxins also wipe out our beneficial gut bacteria where 75% of our immune system resides, IN A HEALTHY GUT. Kidney function is severely diminished which can lead to formation of stones or worse, kidney failure.
Almost every one of these problems result from accumulation of toxins which in turn leave us with severe mineral deficiencies. Magnesium, Sulfur, Silica, Zinc and many other essential minerals become depleted from toxicity and are usually devoid in the fake 'foods' that we eat. I'll explain fake foods later in this OP.
Demineralized bodies, depleted of essential minerals are bodies that lack electrical conductivity, the electrical nerve impulses from our brains to our nerves. WE ARE ELECTRICAL CRITTERS. If our bodies cannot send electrical impulses from the brain to the rest of the body, said person has one foot in the grave and is teetering.
Demineralized lack or inability to conduct electricity drives inflammation of the skin and internal organs. It's all one big vicious cycle of spiraling down until our bodies are overwhelmed and we become sick, or we die.
Quickly, back to Gua Sha. It is a technique that uses a tool that looks like a standard kitchen tablespoon. The spoon edge is used to scrape the skin which squeezes out the toxic poor pus. The skin is first treated/washed with a mild acidic solution to soften the toxins so they become pliable and removable(raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar works well and is cheap). Then the Gau Sha spoon can scrape the toxins out, resulting in the brown nasty poor pus. It leaves the skin mildly bruised for a few hours but forces massive blood flow to the skin's surface to rejuvenate in a manner that leaves the skin youthful, vibrant, VITAL.

Finally, a healthy oil such as raw organic coconut oil is used to moisturize and protect the skin after Gua Sha. Google "Gua Sha". Be careful if you attempt this at home. Learn about it first. Over-aggressive Gua Sha can tear the skin and should be done with great care at first. A person should first focus on doing a simple liver cleanse to prepare the liver for the bombardment of toxins that will be squeezed back into the bloodstream from the skin treatment. You'll likely even feel a bit of a drunken-like state at first as the toxins are squeezed out of the skin and into the blood where they will be removed by a healthy liver which highlights the importance of starting with a cleansed liver.
A simple liver cleanse- the juice of one fresh squeezed organic lemon, raw organic cayenne pepper as strong as you can tolerate, for me about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon of pulverized milk thistle seeds(a coffee grinder works great to grind to powder). Drink this solution and prepare for some mild stomach turbulence as it works it's magic. My gut returns to normal about 30 minutes after drinking. Start with a mild solution at first. The cayenne is the key to making it stronger or weaker. Go slow and safe at first. Start with a small amount of cayenne and you may even need to add a little maple syrup or raw agave nectar to sweeten and make it drinkable.
This simple solution will cleanse your liver of toxicity. It will remove bile sludge from the gall bladder and will eventually remove gall stones. 3 days into my first liver cleanse years back, I pooped out a pile of gall stones that would fill both of my cupped hands. That image left a lasting impression on me that I will never forget and is a continual reminder of the bad effects of toxicity.
Once your liver is cleansed you are ready for Gua Sha. By this point you will start to feel your vitality returning. Gua Sha will further this newfound feeling of youthful vigor that you likely haven't felt in years, perhaps decades.

Canned food is a major source of BPA exposure. AVOID CANNED FOOD UNLESS IT IS LABELED BPA-FREE
The thin plastic can liner is the source of BPA. Although, even BPA-free cans still leech heavy metals into the food. I avoid ALL canned goods unless it is canned in glass jars.
Many household vinyls and pvc plastics emit Phthalates. When a vinyl shower curtain warms up from warm water it's emission of phthalates can skyrocket. When you spray yourself with a "fragranced" body spray, your skin absorbs the phthalates and you breath it in as well. When you drink water bottled in bpa plastic bottle, you drink a big dose of cancer causing bpa. When you eat canned tomatoes, you ingest a large dose of bpa.
