The 60s are very good years.

Usually the body is still well enough to see and do many things one didn't have the time to do when working hard and/or caring for the day-to-day needs of a family.

Look forward to and during your 60s.
You've got a lot of living to do; see it all; do it all.
Best wishes.

A gentleman of my acquaintenance brought bedbugs home after volunteering at a local charity.

The charity provides a place for homeless and needy to shower, receive mail, and make phone calls.
Volunteers also run the clothes of these needy ones through a washing machine and dryer.

This very good-hearted man transported (involuntarily) the bedbugs to his very comfortable home.
As a result, he had to discard upholstered living room furniture and bedroom pieces.

For the ladies - The last several years I have switched to an open-in-front bra,

as opposed to the hooks-in-the-back style that I wore for the many decades of my life.

Can't tell you what a difference it makes, as I can leave a few hooks undone for comfort.
I live alone now, and frequently don't even wear a bra around the house.
Naturally I wear a bra when going out, for shaping and because I'm rather buxom, but as soon as I get home, I open those hooks and feel so much better.

I take my night-time pills with about 2-3 ozs. of 2% milk, which is soothing to the stomach, and if needed, a Tum; sometimes I only use 1/2 a Tum.
Use two foam-type pillows, not high, but just enough to raise the head and neck above the upper body.
That and a CPAP give me (usually) a good night's sleep.

"Owners eventually closed the facility permanently". Therefore, it should be obvious

that personnel there would no longer be working there.

It's never great to have to be looking for a new job, especially if one has been working in the same place for a considerable time.
The skills these people have should enable most, if not all, of the laid-off workers to get new jobs fairly quickly

I'm no fan of Pence, but believe he is of Irish ancestry, not Germanic.

It seems he lost his way, likely due to influence of his wife.

Yes, alimony check will be gone if he dies. Many people provide for former spouses

in their will.
Sorry to know of your relatives poor health.
And, yes, I will not pray for him.

It's my understanding that, if she qualified for SS benefit (having been married 10+ years to him)

that she would qualify for a full "widow's" payment on his death.
Am I incorrect?

One cannot control the actions of others.

Sick man likely knew of the predilection of ex-wife to spread word of his illness.
Unfortunate that his wishes were not recognized, but typical of what happens in such cases, which are not uncommon.

Sick man knows that life is not perfect and now has to deal with the situation.
Unwanted prayers are the least of his problems. Likewise, any unwanted curses and hexes.
