Fake news and its implications

With everything going on these days online it's becoming harder and harder to to truly know if something is real or not.

Take for instance the latest attempt by Russian trolls/agents/whoever. It started in the depths of 4chan. They started the rumor that the LGBTQ community was accepting pedos with welcome arms. Then blasted to all there fake twitter accounts to the point that it was trending on twitter. Of course "somebody" is going out this on their website for clicks, and then the next thing you know FOX news is reporting that it's a fact.

This has cascading effects. First of all, now all of a sudden the LGBTQ community has to refute this ridiculous claim. Then people on the right, now say "look look! They love pedos!"

Interesting and scary times we live in.
