Donald Trump is shutting down his charitable foundation

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's charitable foundation, which last year admitted violating federal rules on "self-dealing," is in the process of dissolving, according to newly filed documents reviewed by NBC News.

The move fulfills a promise Trump made last December, when he said he would wind down the Donald J. Trump Foundation to avoid conflicts of interest. New York's attorney general ordered the foundation to stop soliciting contributions in October 2016.

"The foundation announced its intent to dissolve and is seeking approval to distribute its remaining funds" to other charities, according to its 2016 Internal Revenue Service filing, filed this month and uploaded to the website of charity watchdog Guidestar.org by the foundation.

At the end of 2016, the foundation had assets of about $970,000, the document shows.

No One Wanted Anthony Scaramucci's White House Book

ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI COULDN'T SELL WHITE HOUSE MEMOIR BECAUSE PUBLISHERS THOUGHT IT SUCKED: REPORT

BY LAUREN GILL ON 11/20/17 AT 6:08 PM

The Mooch can't make it as a writer.

Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci has scrapped his plans for a political memoir after publishers decided his drafts weren't good and lost interest, Business Insider reported Monday.

Scaramucci, who worked 10 days in the White House, shopped several versions of the book to major publishers over the summer, under the titles "Inside Out" and "I Did It My Way." One employee working at a major publishing house said the company saw a 35-page draft in October, which the worker deemed "not good."

Scaramucci tells a different tale. The former New York financier and full-time publicity hound claims he walked away from the project because he didn't want to write a coveted tell-all that might hurt his relationship with President Donald Trump.

"Mine was on resiliency, how to get up on what you thought was going to be your 12th day in the White House, but it's not. That sort of thing," Scaramucci said about his ideal version of the book.

CBS suspends Rose, PBS halts his show following allegations

Source: Associated Press

Associated PressNovember 20, 2017

NEW YORK (AP) — PBS says it is immediately halting distribution of Charlie Rose's interview program and CBS News suspended him following The Washington Post's report of eight women who accused the veteran newsman of multiple unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate behavior.

The women, three of whom spoke on the record in the deeply-reported story, accused Rose of groping them, walking naked in front of them and relating an erotic dream.

Rose told the Post that he was "deeply embarrassed" and apologized for his behavior.

Rose's PBS show features his in-depth interviews with newsmakers. The 75-year-old journalist is one of three hosts of "CBS This Morning" and is also a contributor to "60 Minutes."

'He's Embarrassed Me': In North Carolina, Trumpists Start to Turn

The group doesn’t bring up the Russia probe at all. But they have a lot to say about the opioid crisis, and health care.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina—A dozen voters assembled here for a focus group on President Trump’s first year give him credit for a good economy and a robust stock market. Having said that, they used the forum to let loose with their condemnation of the tweeter-in-chief and the many ways he has embarrassed them.

It was a tough assessment, and the most stinging critique came from those in the group who had voted for Trump, with Republican women serving up the harshest words, saying he hasn’t delivered on his promises, and he’s crude and bullying.

“I feel like he told people that he had all these big ideas and big plans, and it just seems to kind of roll to something else,” said Emily Bell, a 32-year-old occupational therapist. “It’s like nothing is ever accomplished.”

Annie Anthony, 56, who runs a small nonprofit, said, “He’s embarrassed me by his behavior… I can’t imagine how they let him build a country club, let alone be in one. Because adults don’t behave that way.” She doesn’t mind the tweets but wishes he would elevate his language.

Eight women say Charlie Rose sexually harassed them - with nudity, groping and lewd calls

Source: The Washington Post

By Irin Carmon and Amy Brittain November 20 at 4:43 PM

Eight women have told The Washington Post that longtime television host Charlie Rose made unwanted sexual advances toward them, including lewd phone calls, walking around naked in their presence, or groping their breasts, buttocks or genital areas.

The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at the “Charlie Rose” show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the alleged encounters. Rose, 75, whose show airs on PBS, also co-hosts “CBS This Morning” and is a contributing correspondent for “60 Minutes.”

There are striking commonalities in the accounts of the women, each of whom described their interactions with Rose in multiple interviews with The Post. For all of the women, reporters interviewed friends, colleagues or family members who said the women had confided in them about aspects of the incidents. Three of the eight spoke on the record.

Five of the women spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of Rose’s stature in the industry, his power over their careers or what they described as his volatile temper.

EXCLUSIVE Low-Profile Real Estate Exec Knew of Russia's Hillary 'Dirt'

Roman Beniaminov, a Low-Profile Real Estate Exec Turned Pop Star Manager, Knew About Russias Dirt on Hillary

Investigators now may have another person to talk to about that infamous Trump Tower meeting.

Days before the infamous Trump Tower meeting in June 2016, a low-profile real estate figure with ties to powerful Russians alerted a meeting participant that the topic of dirt on Hillary Clinton could come up, The Daily Beast has learned.

That figure, Roman Beniaminov, didnt attend the meeting himself. But he had close ties to several figures in and around it, including Emin Agalarov, the Azeri-Russian pop star who helped set up that Trump Tower confab and whose father is an ally of Vladimir Putin.

Ike Kaveladze was one of the participants in the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Donald Trump Jr., and Kremlin-connected attorney Natalia Vesilnitskaya. Kaveladze told Congressional investigators that when he was first invited to participate, he was under the impression that he would just be there as a translator and that the meeting would involve discussion of Magnitsky Act sanctions.

Scott Balber, Kaveladzes attorney, told The Daily Beast that before Kaveladze headed from Los Angeles to New York for the meeting, he saw an email noting that Kushner, Manafort, and Trump Jr. would all be involved. He thought it would be odd for them to attend the meeting, so he called Beniaminov before heading to New York. Both Beniaminov and Kaveladze have worked with the Agalarovs real estate development company, the Crocus Group.

Trump administration to sue to block AT&T-Time Warner deal

Source: Politico

By POLITICO STAFF 11/20/2017 03:51 PM EST

The Department of Justice plans to file a lawsuit Monday to block the AT&T-Time Warner merger, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The move to block the mega-deal comes amid a growing political storm over whether the Trump administration has tried to use its review of the merger to force the sale of CNN, a frequent target of the president's media criticism.

Sources familiar with the $85 billion deal told POLITICO earlier this month that the DOJ gave the companies an ultimatum to either sell Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting, which includes CNN as well as networks like TBS and TNT, or shed satellite television provider DirecTV. The sources said it's clear the government's main sticking point is CNN, which Trump often maligns as "fake news."

Trump administration officials have denied any White House interference in the DOJ's review of the deal.

Ex-Fox News Employee Says She Was Blocked From Investigating Trump-Russia Ties

Source: Bloomberg

By Joe Mayes
November 20, 2017, 1:49 PM EST Updated on November 20, 2017, 2:16 PM EST

A former Fox News employee said the network blocked her from going to Moscow to investigate President Donald Trump’s links with Russia, one of several claims of news bias at 21st Century Fox Inc. made by former and current workers opposing its takeover of Sky Plc.

“You can’t do in-depth reporting if you’re not there,” said Jessica Golloher, a former Fox Radio correspondent who is suing the division for gender discrimination, at a gathering with U.K. lawmakers and citizens in Parliament on Monday. “Fox didn’t let me go to Moscow to dig into Trump’s Russian connections, even when I offered to pay my own way.”

“Fox is just buying what the White House is selling,” she said.

Golloher’s claim follows allegations earlier this year that Trump colluded with Fox on a story to divert attention from his ties with Russia. She made the remarks shortly after meeting the Competition & Markets Authority, which is investigating the 11.7 billion-pound ($15.5 billion) Sky merger on grounds of media plurality and whether Fox has a genuine commitment to broadcasting standards.
