Trump legal adviser Jenna Ellis busted for fake Teddy Roosevelt quote: 'How are you a lawyer?'

Published 5 mins ago on November 25, 2020By Travis Gettys- Commentary

One of President Donald Trump’s legal advisers tweeted out a debunked quote she attributed to Teddy Roosevelt, and was widely mocked by other social media users.

Jenna Ellis, who’s advising the president and his attorney Rudy Giuliani in their bid to overturn the election results, shared a meme that purports to show the former president’s views on liberals and conservatives.

“To anger a conservative, lie to him,” the meme says. “To anger a liberal, tell him the truth.”

However, historians have found no record of Roosevelt saying those words, which appear to have been in print since about 2007, and Ellis insisted the origins of the quote don’t matter.

Biden to receive first daily presidential briefing on Monday

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 11/25/20 11:21 AM EST

Joe Biden is set to receive his first presidential daily briefing (PDB) as president-elect on Monday, according to his transition team.

Biden transition spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters the news during a call on Wednesday after a spokesperson for the Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) announced on Tuesday that the White House had granted the ODNI permission to give Biden the PBD as apart of the transition process.

The document is a written summary of high-level intelligence that the president receives on a daily basis.

While President Trump has yet to concede and continues to challenge the results of this month's election in court, his approval was necessary in order for Biden to receive the daily report.

Trump campaign adviser tests positive after attending legal team's press conference

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 11/25/20 10:36 AM EST

An adviser to the Trump campaign who was part of a lengthy press conference last week with several of the president's lawyers has tested positive for the coronavirus, he tweeted Wednesday.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am experiencing mild symptoms, and am following all appropriate protocols, including quarantining and contact tracing," Boris Epshteyn said.

Epshteyn stood alongside Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell on Thursday at a press conference in which the members of President Trump's legal team levied unproven and at times conspiratorial allegations that the 2020 election was fraudulent and that Trump won in a "landslide."

Giuliani's son, Andrew Giuliani, announced last Friday that he had tested positive.

Literary group to honor Obama

BY DOMINICK MASTRANGELO - 11/25/20 10:47 AM EST

Former President Barack Obama is set to be honored by one of the country's top literary groups later this year.

Pen America announced on Wednesday it will confer Obama with the "Voice of Influence Award" for what the organization described as "self-reflective humanism" present in his political writings.

“As an organization of writers, we have always seen President Obama not just as a leader, but as one of us: an author. His probing and evocative narratives helped introduce the world to his unique background, and the power of his life experience as a prompt toward a more pluralistic and encompassing society,” Pen America president Suzanne Nossel said in a statement. "We are thrilled that on the occasion of the publication of 'A Promised Land,' we will have the chance to honor President Obama with this award as part of the virtual edition of the best book party of the year: the PEN America gala."

Obama's memoir, "A Promised Land," published earlier this month and contains a litany of personal anecdotes and descriptive details of the former president's political struggles, personal achievements and reflections on American society as a whole.

Moseley Braun Stumps for Interior Post

November 25, 2020 at 9:49 am EST By Taegan Goddard

Former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun (D-IL) is interested in being President-elect Joe Biden’s Interior secretary, telling the Washington Post the position is “just a natural fit for me.”

The Hill: “The former Illinois lawmaker, who also served as ambassador to New Zealand in the late 1990s following her single Senate term, would be an unusual choice to lead the Interior Department given her lack of experience on environmental issues.”

Obama Tells Stephen Colbert that Trump’s Failures ‘Exceeded’ All Expectations, Roasts ‘Shambolic’ Covid-19 Response

By Leia Idliby Nov 25th, 2020, 9:05 am

Stephen Colbert’s scored a pretty big name for his first in-person interview since the pandemic shut down the entertainment world. Barack Obama joined the Late Show host to discuss his new memoir A Promised Land, the state of the U.S. following the 2020 election, and the Trump administration’s failed coronavirus response.

“I just want to take a moment to drink you in for just a moment,” Colbert said. “Because I’m having to get used to looking at a president again. I’ve gotten out of the habit. I have to warm up for Joe Biden. I don’t want to pull anything when I see him take the oath of office.”

Not mincing his words, Obama replied, “We’ve got the potential of returning to a presidency that is actually paying attention and trying to do right by all people and not just some.”

Colbert generally stayed away from discussing President Donald Trump, but did question Obama about the rest of the Republican party, asking the former president if he were surprised that the GOP failed to see the advantage of acting as if they cared.

Every Day Trump Repeatedly Emails His Supporters a Dangerous Message: Democracy Doesn't Work

Be outraged, don’t accept the election results…and send money.

DAVID CORN
Washington, DC, Bureau Chief

I’ve heard from Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Lara Trump. I’ve heard from Rudy Giuliani, Ronna McDaniel, and Newt Gingrich. And I’ve heard from Donald Trump. Over and over again. The 2020 election was stolen from Trump. The left-wing mob, the Democrats, the fake news media—they successfully plotted together to pull off the greatest political heist of all time. Trump really won. But fake ballots were counted. Real ballots were trashed. American democracy was undone. The people have been robbed of their rightful president.

Yes, this is what I am told every day—multiple times—by Trump, his family, and his lieutenants. I am on several rightwing email lists, including various Trump campaign lists, and for the past three weeks, each day I have received a steady stream of emails signed by Trump or one of his minions. These missives all request money for Trump’s so-called “Election Defense Fund”—that is, his effort to overturn the election results and retain power—and they are obvious acts of grift. Though they generally ask for small amounts—from $5 to $45—the fine print on the donation page notes that unless you kick in about $8,000, the money goes to Trump’s political operation and the Republican National Committee, not the special fund that pays for the legal challenges Trump has been mounting (and losing) and the recounts he has been requesting. These emails are merely the latest iteration of Trump’s campaign money-grab, as he tries to financially exploit the clown-show coup Giuliani has been running for him.

But this barrage is doing more than squeezing cash out of Trump fanatics. For the recipients, it is solidifying a dangerous message: the election was illegitimate. Though campaigns typically do not disclose such information, it is a fair assumption that millions of people are receiving these solicitations on a daily basis. Your pro-Trump uncle or aunt—they are constantly being told that the evil Democrats have mounted a coup to topple Trump. Yes, Trump tweets this every day. But for those Trump-supporting Americans not on Twitter, these emails form a ceaseless reinforcement of Trump’s false counter-narrative: the 2020 election was rigged.

In one email with the sender identified as “Rudy Giuliani Alerts,” the Trump campaign calls Joe Biden’s victory the “biggest political scam of all time,” and it claims, “We have hundreds of affidavits from Americans all over the Country testifying under OATH to voting irregularities. It’s reported that vans, trash cans, and boxes full of ballots for Biden were brought in to be counted during the early morning hours without Republican poll watchers.” The Democrats, this mailing asserts, “are attempting to STEAL this Election.” Eric Trump tells me, “Make no mistake, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and their allies in the Fake News media are trying to steal this Election… Biden couldn’t get 10 people to a rally and went days without leaving his house, while my father received 11 MILLION more votes THIS YEAR than he did in 2016.” His wife Lara emails, “The reports of voter fraud have been alarming. In addition to hundreds of sworn affidavits coming in from Americans across the Nation claiming they witnessed irregularities.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is also attempting to rile me up: “It’s time for us to get MAD. This Election is unlike any we have ever witnessed. The systemic corruption is breathtaking. The mainstream media, the Left-wing academics, and the entrenched Democrats will all ask us to roll over right now. There is voter fraud in this Election that MUST be reported and uncovered.” Republican Party chair Ronna McDaniel reports that the “Radical Left” used “the coronavirus as an excuse to change Election laws” and that the Republicans have rounded up 1,200 “incidence reports” related to fraud and voting irregularities.

Mueller Investigation Prosecutor Calls on Next Attorney General to Investigate, Prosecute Trump: ...

Mueller Investigation Prosecutor Calls on Next Attorney General to Investigate, Prosecute Trump: ‘Mr. Trump’s Criminal Exposure is Clear’

By Charlie NashNov 24th, 2020, 10:03 am

Andrew Weissmann, who served as a senior prosecutor during the 2017 to 2019 Mueller Investigation against President Donald Trump, called on the next attorney general under President-elect Joe Biden to investigate and prosecute Trump.

In a Tuesday article for the New York Times, Weissmann noted that although another investigation into Trump would “further divide the country,” the next attorney general “should investigate Mr. Trump and, if warranted, prosecute him for potential federal crimes.”

“Mr. Trump’s criminal exposure is clear,” Weissmann claimed, adding that they “amassed ample evidence to support a charge that Mr. Trump obstructed justice,” during the Mueller Investigation.

He went on to acknowledge that Trump may “pardon not just his family and friends before leaving office but also himself in order to avoid federal criminal liability,” but argued, “If Mr. Trump bestows such pardons, states like New York should take up the mantle to see that the rule of law is upheld. And pardons would not preclude the new attorney general challenging a self-pardon or the state calling the pardoned friends and family before the grand jury to advance its investigation of Mr. Trump after he leaves office.”
