A coat hanger or "very tiny screwdriver" could be used to unlock the Mar-a-Lago storage room where former President Donald Trump stored highly classified documents for more than a year, according to a witness in Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation.
The account was relayed to FBI agents by an unidentified aide to Trump in January 2023, according to newly released exhibits, and further undercuts claims by Trump that the highly-classified materials he's accused of taking with him after leaving office were secured at all times.
The transcript of the interview was released as part of an ongoing effort by Trump and his co-defendants to make additional evidence gathered by Special Counsel Smith public.
Investigators were told by the witness that in summer of 2021 the storage room door had a knob "with a pinhole" that visitors could lock from the inside via a push button.
"Kind of like what you would find on a residential door inside of a home?" an FBI agent asked.
"So it might have a lock like that on one side of it then other side, rather than an actual place for a key," an agent added.

Yes, caring for others--is so important. I had seen this many moons ago but had forgotten it.
Great reminder
@DJM549845319274
"Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.
But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.
A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said."

One of my favorite Margaret Mead quotes:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Children must be taught how to think, not what to think. ~ Margaret Mead

As former President Donald Trump awaits a ruling on whether he will be held in contempt for violating his gag order, prosecutors on Thursday accused him of making four more violations.
The limited gag order, which was issued by Judge Juan Merchan ahead of Trump's hush money trial, prohibits him from making public comments about jurors, lawyers, potential witnesses, court staff and their families. It allows Trump to continue making remarks about Merchan and District Attorney Alvin Bragg, but forbids him from speaking about their family members.
"We think that it is important for the court to remind Mr. Trump that he is a criminal defendant, and like all criminal defendants, he is subject to court supervision and, in particular, this court's obligation to preserve the integrity of the Criminal Justice System," prosecutor Chris Conroy said last week.
Though the alleged violations were initially limited to Trump's statements on social media and his campaign website, the newest ones announced Thursday center on comments he's made in interviews or live remarks some in the hallway just outside the courtroom.
'Thank you to Michael Avenatti'
In an Apr. 10 post on TruthSocial, Trump thanked convicted attorney Michael Avenatti for speaking out against Trump's gag order in a social media post that slammed adult film actress Stormy Daniels and his former attorney Michael Cohen, both potential witnesses. In Dec. 2022, Avenatti was sentenced to 14 years in prison for defrauding Daniels...............................

"Real embarrassment": Trump lawyer apologizes after judge called him out for "misleading" jury

It was a pretty good day for Donald Trump and his defense team. David Pecker, the former National Enquirer publisher, was seen by jurors as being a little fuzzy on the details of a key moment: an August 2015 meeting where prosecutors say he, Michael Cohen and the former president conspired to break campaign finance laws by cementing an agreement to "catch-and-kill" potentially damning stories about the Republican candidate.
During cross examination, Trump attorney Emil Bove pressed the witness on why he was now testifying that Hope Hicks then-director of the Trump campaign's communications team was "in and out" of that Trump Tower meeting when he had previously told federal investigators that she was not there. Bove then handed Pecker a document that the attorney said would refresh his memory.
But that document appears to have been more of a prop than a piece of evidence. After jurors left the room Thursday, and following objections from the prosecution, Judge Juan Merchan accused Bove of leaving the jury with a false impression.
"If there wasn't anything in that document, it's misleading," Merchan said, as HuffPost reported. "I'm going to ask you to be very careful with that."
When Bove sought to defend himself, Merchan cut him off. "Mr. Bove, are you missing my point?"
Norm Eisen, an attorney and CNN legal analyst, said that moment undid whatever good may have been accomplished Thursday from the defense's perspective.

Alito complains 'special' Trump shouldn't be 'subject to criminal laws like anybody else'
Source: raw story
David Edwards April 25, 2024 12:14PM ET
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito complained Thursday about the concept that a "special" former officeholder like Donald Trump could be expected to be "subject to the criminal laws just like anybody else."
Alito made the remarks to special counsel attorney Michael Dreeben during oral arguments in Trump's presidential immunity appeal to the high court. Trump's attorneys had argued the former president could not be charged with election interference because the office gave him immunity.
Dreeben, however, asserted Trump could be charged for trying to subvert the election.
"Well, Mr. Dreeben, do you really, I mean, the presidents have to make a lot of tough decisions about enforcing the law, and they have to make decisions about questions that are unsettled, and they have to make decisions based on the information that's available," Alito said.
"Do you really, did I understand you to say, well, you know, if he makes a mistake, he makes a mistake. He's subject to the criminal laws just like anybody else?"
"You don't think he's in a special, a peculiarly precarious position?" the justice asked.

Well, Alito should just put a crown of Trump if he thinks he is so special.
